The Huawei Mate 10 Pro was an unusually well-built phone that has aged better than most of its contemporaries, and at £89 for a screen replacement it is now one of the cheapest OLED repairs on our entire list. That combination – good hardware, low repair cost – is why so many are still in use.
How much does a Huawei Mate 10 Pro repair cost?
Our fixed prices at iExpert Repairs are:
- Screen replacement – £89
- Battery replacement – £65
- Charging port repair – £59
- Diagnostic service – £15
Each covers the part, the labour and a 12 month guarantee, with no assessment fee added afterwards.
An £89 OLED screen is unusual
OLED panels normally push a repair well past the hundred pound mark, and on newer Huawei flagships they do. The Mate 10 Pro is the exception, because the phone sold in large numbers, the panel is flat rather than curved, and the part has been in circulation long enough for supply to settle.
Flat matters as much as anything. A curved OLED has to be released with controlled heat and re-bonded evenly around the sides of the frame, which is slow and unforgiving work. A flat panel is a considerably more straightforward job, and that shows up in what you pay.
The fingerprint sensor is on the back
The Mate 10 Pro has a conventional fingerprint reader on the rear panel rather than one hidden behind the display. It is entirely separate from the screen assembly, so a screen replacement cannot break it and no re-enrolment is needed afterwards.
On the later Mate 20 Pro and Mate 40 Pro, where the sensor sits behind the panel, this is the step a rushed repair skips – leaving the owner with a perfect screen and a fingerprint reader that recognises nothing. On this model it simply is not a risk, which is one less thing to weigh when comparing quotes.
What a drop does to an OLED
OLED panels can be damaged by an impact even when the outer glass survives looking intact. If colours have shifted, a coloured line has appeared, or an area has stopped responding to touch, that is the display rather than the glass.
There is no cheaper glass-only route on a bonded OLED assembly like this one – glass, touch layer and panel form a single unit and are replaced together. Anyone offering a bargain glass-only repair on a Mate 10 Pro is either quoting for a different handset or planning something that will not last.
Battery replacement at £65
The Mate 10 Pro carried a large battery and genuinely excellent endurance when new, which is exactly why owners notice the decline. After this many years of cycling, capacity drops substantially, and this is far and away the most common reason these arrive with us.
The cell is bonded in with adhesive that must be eased out slowly rather than levered, and the phone is charge-tested after reassembly rather than simply screwed back together. Confirm the battery is the problem first: a worn cell handles messaging and browsing and then drops sharply during camera use, navigation or video calls.
Charging faults: cable, plug, then lint
Change the USB-C cable, because after this many years most original cables have failed internally at the strain relief. Then change the mains plug. Then look into the socket with a torch for compacted pocket lint, which is very common on a phone of this age and which we clear at no charge. Only after all three is our £59 charging port repair the right answer.
Is a Mate 10 Pro still worth repairing?
For a single repair on a handset that otherwise works, comfortably yes.
Where it stops adding up is two or three faults at once, and we will tell you when you are at that point rather than quoting for all of them. If the phone holds photographs or messages that were never backed up, ask about data recovery before writing it off.
Check the storage before you spend anything
A meaningful share of the Mate 10 Pros brought to us as failing turn out to be full rather than faulty. Once a handset sits close to capacity it slows noticeably, apps crash on opening, the camera refuses to save shots and system updates fail without explanation. None of that is a hardware fault and no repair addresses it.
Move your photographs off, clear cached data and uninstall what you no longer use before booking anything. It costs nothing and it resolves the complaint often enough that we would rather tell you than take the job. If the phone still misbehaves afterwards, that is when a diagnostic earns its keep, and our £15 charge covers a proper investigation with a fixed quote before any work starts.
Is a Mate 10 Pro still worth repairing?
For a single repair on a handset that otherwise works, comfortably yes. At £89 for a screen and £65 for a battery these are among the more affordable flagship repairs we do, and the phone still handles calls, messaging, browsing, photographs and video perfectly well.
Where it stops adding up is two or three faults at once, and we will tell you when you have reached that point rather than quoting for all of them and hoping you do not run the numbers. If the handset holds photographs or messages that were never backed up, ask about data recovery before writing it off – on a phone of this age that is sometimes the thing genuinely worth paying for rather than the repair itself.
What we check before it goes back
A screen replacement is not finished when the display lights up. We test touch response into all four corners, the rear fingerprint reader, the earpiece and loudspeaker, the cameras, the proximity sensor and the ambient light sensor. The proximity sensor is the one rushed repairs miss – seated out of position it fails to blank the screen on calls, so your cheek presses buttons and mutes people.
How long does a Huawei Mate 10 Pro repair take?
Battery and charging work is usually completed the same day once the phone is with us. Screen replacement takes a little longer because the bonded assembly has to come out and go back cleanly. We confirm timing with the fixed quote and start only once you approve it.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Repairs: Questions Answered
Why is an OLED screen only £89 on this phone?
Three things combine. It sold in large numbers, the panel is flat rather than curved, and the part has been in circulation long enough for supply to settle. Flat matters most - a curved OLED must be released with controlled heat and re-bonded around the frame edges, which is slow and unforgiving work.
Will a screen repair affect my fingerprint reader?
No. The Mate 10 Pro has a conventional sensor on the rear panel, entirely separate from the screen assembly, so a screen replacement cannot break it and no re-enrolment is needed. On the later Mate 20 Pro and Mate 40 Pro, where the reader sits behind the display, that is a genuine risk.
My screen is not cracked but the colours look wrong. Can that be fixed?
Yes, and it is the panel rather than the glass. OLED displays can be damaged by an impact even when the outer glass survives intact. Shifted colours, a coloured line, or an area that has stopped responding to touch all mean the full assembly needs replacing.
The battery was excellent when new and now it is not. Why?
Because it was genuinely excellent, which is exactly why the decline is so noticeable. Lithium cells lose capacity with charge cycles, and after this many years a Mate 10 Pro battery holds a fraction of what it did. At £65 it is the repair that most transforms how the phone feels to use.
