Every Apple Watch repair includes a 12-month warranty and our no-fix, no-fee promise.

Professional Apple Watch Repair Services Across the UK

Your Apple Watch isn’t just a gadget. It tracks your workouts, monitors your heart, wakes you up, takes your calls, pays for your coffee and – on newer models – can call an ambulance if you come off your bike. When it stops working properly, you notice within hours. That’s exactly why choosing the right repair service matters more than most people assume.

At iExpert Repairs, Apple Watch work isn’t something we squeeze in between phone jobs. It’s handled at a dedicated bench by technicians who work on these devices every single day, using the correct tools, quality parts and proper resealing materials. There’s a real difference between a shop that occasionally opens a watch and one that does it daily, and you see that difference in whether the repair still holds up six months later.

We repair every generation across the full Apple Watch range. That includes the current Series 11 and Ultra 3, the popular Series 7, 8 and 9, both SE generations, and older models like the Series 5 and Series 6 that are still going strong on wrists all over the country. Whatever you’re wearing, we’ve almost certainly had one open on the bench this week.

You can visit our repair centre in Essex, or use our free send-back delivery service from anywhere in the UK. Most repairs booked in person are completed the same day, and mail-in repairs are usually turned around within 24 to 48 hours of arriving with us. Either way you get a fixed price agreed before any work starts, a 12-month warranty on the repair, and your watch back properly resealed rather than simply stuck together.

Why Apple Watch Repair Needs a Specialist

Repairing an Apple Watch is a genuinely different job from repairing a phone, and understanding why explains a lot about why cheap repairs so often go wrong.

Everything Is Packed Into a Tiny, Sealed Case

An Apple Watch is roughly the size of a matchbox, and every component inside is competing for space. The display isn’t clipped in like a phone screen – it’s bonded to the case with adhesive and has to be carefully released with controlled heat. The battery sits glued into a recess only a few millimetres deep. The cables connecting everything are fragile and short, with very little slack to work with.

Open one without the right equipment and the most likely outcome is a torn display cable, a damaged seal or a punctured battery. That’s why watches repaired carelessly come back rattling, letting water in, or refusing to switch on at all.

The Seal Has to Be Properly Restored

Every modern Apple Watch is sealed against water – 50 metres on Series and SE models, 100 metres on the Ultra range. That seal isn’t a rubber gasket you can simply push back into place. It relies on a precise adhesive layer that has to be completely removed and correctly replaced during any repair.

A repair that skips this step leaves you with a watch that looks fine and fails the first time you wash your hands properly. We reseal every watch with fresh waterproof adhesive and pressure-test it before it goes back to you.

Health Sensors Depend on Physical Condition

Apple Watches carry an unusual amount of sensing hardware for their size – heart rate, blood oxygen, ECG, temperature, altitude, motion detection for Fall Detection and Crash Detection, and on the newest models hypertension notifications. Most of that sits in the back of the watch, in the panel that touches your skin.

Damage there, or careless work during a previous repair, can leave those features quietly not working. You wouldn’t notice on an ordinary day. You’d notice on the day it mattered. We test the sensors and motion detection as part of every repair, not as an optional extra.

Software and Hardware Are Tightly Linked

watchOS talks to the hardware constantly, and problems often present themselves misleadingly. A watch that won’t hold charge might have a failing battery, or it might have a software fault draining power in the background. A watch stuck on the Apple logo might have a hardware failure or simply need reinstalling. Guessing costs you money for no reason.

Proper diagnostics identify whether you’re looking at a hardware failure or a software problem before anyone starts replacing parts. Sometimes the honest answer is that nothing needs replacing at all – and we’ll tell you that.

Common Apple Watch Problems We Repair

These are the faults we see most often, along with what usually causes them.

Battery Won’t Last the Day

Comfortably the most common Apple Watch repair we carry out. Every Apple Watch battery wears out eventually – that’s chemistry rather than a defect. Most watches pass 500 charge cycles within two years of daily use, and by the three-year mark capacity has usually dropped noticeably.

The signs are consistent: the watch shuts down while still showing 20 or 30 per cent, it drains heavily overnight, it dies during a workout, or it gets warm while charging. Always-on display models like the Series 5 through 11 wear their batteries faster than the SE range, simply because the screen spends far more of the day lit.

One symptom deserves urgent attention. If the display has started to lift at a corner, that’s a swollen battery pushing it out of the case. Stop wearing the watch and get it booked in – a damaged lithium cell is a genuine safety issue, not a cosmetic annoyance.

Apple Watch Not Charging

The second most frequent reason people contact us. Because Apple Watches charge wirelessly through the back of the case, the usual causes are sweat and grime corroding the contact area, a worn or damaged charging cable, a fault in the internal charging components, or a battery too degraded to accept power.

We always test the charger and cable first, because on newer watches the accessory is very often the entire problem — and that’s a far cheaper outcome for you than a repair. If the fault is inside the watch, we’ll identify exactly which part has failed rather than replacing everything and charging you for it.

Apple Watch Water Damage Repair

Apple Watches are water-resistant, not waterproof, and the difference matters. They handle swimming and showering when new, but the seals stiffen and weaken with age. Saunas, hot showers, seawater and pressure jets are where watches fail – hot water in particular is far harder on the seals than cold.

Water damage frequently appears days or weeks after exposure, as corrosion spreads internally. Symptoms include charging failures, muffled or silent speakers, condensation under the screen, erratic touch response or complete failure. If your watch has had a soaking, getting it looked at quickly makes a substantial difference to how much can be saved.

Digital Crown Stuck or Not Turning

Extremely common among swimmers, runners and gym users. Sweat, sun cream, gym chalk, sand and sea salt gradually work into the crown housing until it feels gritty, needs a hard press, or stops turning altogether.

Sometimes a thorough professional clean restores it completely. Sometimes the crown assembly needs replacing. We’ll tell you which after checking it, and the assessment costs nothing. On Series 5 and later, the crown also acts as the sensor you touch for ECG readings, so a clogged crown can affect that too.

Action Button Faults on Ultra Models

The orange Action Button is unique to the Ultra range, and it’s a moving part on a watch designed to be taken into the sea and up mountains. Salt crystals, fine sand and dried sunscreen work into the housing over time, leaving a button that feels rough or stops responding. It’s one of the more common Ultra-specific repairs we handle.

Health Readings Have Stopped Working

Blood Oxygen, ECG and temperature sensing all rely on sensors in the back of the watch. If the back panel is cracked, deeply scratched or was disturbed during a previous repair, those readings often stop or become unreliable.

Worth knowing before you book: some health features simply need time rather than repair. Temperature sensing needs around five nights of sleep tracking to establish a baseline, and hypertension notifications on the newest models analyse 30 days of data before they show anything. If yours are blank after a recent repair or a break from wearing the watch, that may be perfectly normal.

Speaker, Microphone and Siren Problems

Calls sounding muffled, people struggling to hear you, or audio that’s dropped in volume are usually caused by water and debris in the speaker and microphone ports. On Ultra models, the same issue can affect the 86-decibel emergency siren — worth checking if you rely on it when out alone.

Scratches and Cosmetic Damage

Apple Watch scratch repair is a question we’re asked constantly, so here’s the honest answer. Light scratches on an aluminium case can often be significantly improved. Scratches on the display glass itself cannot be polished out – the glass is treated, and any attempt to buff it removes that treatment and leaves the screen looking hazy. If a scratched display genuinely bothers you, replacing the display assembly is the only real fix.

Sapphire-fronted models – stainless steel, titanium and every Ultra – are far more scratch-resistant to begin with, which is precisely why Apple uses sapphire on its premium watches. We’ll always give you a straight assessment of what can and can’t be improved rather than taking payment for work that won’t achieve much.

Watch Won’t Turn On or Keeps Restarting

A watch stuck on the Apple logo, restarting in a loop, or completely unresponsive can be a software problem or a hardware failure – and they look identical from the outside. Our diagnostic service establishes which, so you don’t pay for a part replacement when a software repair would have solved it.

Pairing, Bluetooth and Connectivity Faults

Watches that won’t pair with an iPhone, keep dropping Bluetooth, lose GPS accuracy or fail to connect to mobile networks on cellular models. These can stem from antenna damage after an impact, water ingress, or software issues. Again, diagnostics come first.

Apple Watch Models We Repair

We service the entire Apple Watch range, with model-specific knowledge for each generation rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Apple Watch Series Repairs

The mainstream range, and the watches we see most. We repair the Series 11 and Series 10 in 42mm and 46mm; the Series 9, 8 and 7 in 41mm and 45mm; and the Series 6 and Series 5 in 40mm and 44mm. Older Series 4 and Series 3 models are also serviceable in many cases.

Sizes matter enormously here. Apple has changed case sizes three times across this range, and parts are not interchangeable between them. A Series 9 screen will not fit a Series 10 despite the watches looking similar. Give us your model number and we’ll always get the correct part first time.

Apple Watch SE Repairs

The SE range offers most of what the Series models do at a lower price, and both generations remain extremely common. We repair the SE 2nd Gen from 2022 and the SE 1st Gen from 2020, in both 40mm and 44mm.

An important distinction between them: the SE 2nd Gen still runs the current watchOS, while the SE 1st Gen’s final software version is watchOS 10. Both are absolutely worth repairing, but it’s a factor worth knowing when you decide.

Apple Watch Ultra Repairs

The Ultra, Ultra 2 and Ultra 3 are premium titanium watches with sapphire fronts, built for diving, hiking and endurance sport. They come in one size only – 49mm – which makes identification simple, but they need a higher standard of resealing given their 100-metre water rating and the conditions they’re used in.

These are also the watches most likely to arrive with salt water damage or a seized Action Button, simply because of how their owners use them.

Apple Watch Repair Cost: What to Expect

Apple Watch repair pricing depends on three things: which model you have, which component has failed, and what your case is made from. That last point catches people out — a stainless steel or titanium watch uses sapphire glass, which costs considerably more than the Ion-X glass used on aluminium models.

Here’s a realistic guide to what Apple Watch repairs typically cost:

Repair type Typical price range
Apple watch Battery replacement £69 – £99
Watch Charging repair £69 – £129
Digital Crown / button repair £69 – £149
Water damage treatment £49 – £199
Diagnostic service £15

Every price is confirmed exactly before we begin, after we’ve actually seen your watch. The quote you approve is the amount you pay – there are no additional charges added later, and no work goes ahead without your agreement.

Three things worth understanding about repair costs generally. First, the cost of an Apple Watch repair is almost always a small fraction of replacing the watch, particularly on stainless steel, titanium and Ultra models. Second, delaying a repair frequently increases the cost, as a swollen battery can damage the display and untreated water damage spreads. Third, the cheapest quote is rarely the best value – a repair using poor parts or an improper reseal costs you again within months.

Apple Store or Independent Repair? An Honest Comparison

Plenty of people search for Apple’s own repair service before considering an independent specialist, so here’s a fair comparison rather than a sales pitch.

When Apple Is the Better Choice

If your watch is still within Apple’s one-year limited warranty and the fault is a manufacturing defect rather than accidental damage, go to Apple – it should cost you nothing. Likewise, if you took out AppleCare+ at purchase, accidental damage is covered subject to an excess fee, and using that cover almost always works out cheaper than paying us. We’d genuinely tell you the same if you rang and asked.

When an Independent Specialist Makes More Sense

Apple’s standard warranty does not cover accidental damage. For a cracked screen, a drop, or water damage without AppleCare+, Apple charges an out-of-warranty service fee that is frequently a significant proportion of the watch’s value – and for many faults Apple replaces the entire unit rather than repairing the specific component.

That’s where an independent repair works out considerably better. We repair the actual fault, so you keep your own watch rather than receiving a refurbished replacement. You also keep your Apple Watch’s case, which matters if you have a titanium or stainless steel model, and there’s no need to book an appointment or travel to a city-centre store.

The One Thing to Know

An independent repair ends any remaining Apple warranty on the device. That’s true of every third-party repairer, not just us, and we’d always rather you knew that upfront than discovered it afterwards. If you’re still in warranty, check your position first. If you’re out of warranty, that consideration no longer applies and you’re free to choose on price, convenience and quality.

Our Apple Watch Repair Process

Every repair follows the same four steps, whether you walk in or post your watch to us.

1. Free Diagnostic Check

We test the display and touch response, the Digital Crown and buttons, speakers and microphones, the haptic feedback, all sensors, motion detection, connectivity and charging behaviour, and we read the actual battery health figures. Comprehensive checking matters because visible damage often hides secondary problems – and finding those now avoids a second repair later.

2. Fixed Price, Agreed Before We Start

You get the exact cost and a realistic timescale before we touch a screwdriver. If we find more than one issue, we’ll explain what’s essential and what can wait, so you can decide. Nothing proceeds without your approval, and there are no surprise charges.

If your watch doesn’t actually need a repair – a charging problem caused by a faulty cable, or a software fault we can resolve – we’ll tell you honestly, even though it means less revenue for us.

3. The Repair

Carried out at a dedicated bench with temperature-controlled tooling and quality parts, then resealed with fresh waterproof adhesive to restore the original water resistance. We handle the internals carefully, protecting the sensors, antennas and cables throughout.

4. Testing and Quality Control

Every watch gets a full function test, a pressure check on the seal and a complete charge cycle before it’s packed. We only return a watch once it has passed all of it.

Your personal data is never accessed at any point, and your watch is never wiped without your explicit permission.

Why Professional Apple Watch Repair Beats DIY

Repair kits and online tutorials make Apple Watch repair look approachable. In practice it’s one of the least forgiving devices to work on, and the failure rate for first attempts is very high.

  • The display is bonded, not clipped. It needs controlled, even heat to release safely. Too little and you’ll crack the glass levering it; too much and you’ll damage the display beneath. There’s very little margin.
  • The cables are short and fragile. Lifting the screen too far or at the wrong angle tears the display cable – turning a battery replacement into a display replacement, at several times the cost.
  • Batteries are a genuine fire risk. Apple Watch batteries are glued in tightly and puncture easily. A damaged lithium cell can vent, catch fire and release toxic fumes. Professional benches have the tools and safety equipment for this; a kitchen table does not.
  • You cannot reseal it properly at home. Even a successful DIY repair almost always destroys the water resistance, because restoring it requires the correct adhesive, applied precisely, and a way to verify the seal afterwards.
  • Sensors need testing you can’t do at home. A DIY repair might leave the heart sensor, Fall Detection or Crash Detection non-functional without any obvious sign.

A professional repair takes a couple of hours and comes with a 12-month warranty. A failed DIY attempt frequently costs more than the original repair would have, and sometimes writes the watch off entirely.

How to Make Your Apple Watch Last Longer

A few habits genuinely extend the life of an Apple Watch, and none of them cost anything.

  • Rinse it after swimming. Especially in the sea. Salt water is far more corrosive than pool water, and rinsing with fresh water afterwards makes a real difference to the case, the crown and the charging area.
  • Clean the Digital Crown regularly. Run it under warm fresh water while turning it, then dry it thoroughly. This alone prevents most seized crowns.
  • Keep it out of hot water. Showers are survivable; saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and very hot showers degrade the seals faster than anything else. Heat is harder on water resistance than depth.
  • Don’t run it flat repeatedly. Frequent full discharges age the battery faster than topping up during the day.
  • Wipe the back and charger. A quick wipe of the back of the watch and the charging puck prevents the sweat corrosion that causes most charging faults.
  • Use a case or bumper if you’re active. Particularly for gym use, where dropped weights and knocks against racks account for a large share of the damage we see.

Apple Watch Repair FAQs

How much does an Apple Watch repair cost in the UK?

It depends on the model, the fault and your case material - sapphire-fronted stainless steel, titanium and Ultra models cost more than aluminium ones. Battery and charging repairs are typically the most affordable. We give you an exact fixed price after checking your watch, and the diagnostic assessment is free.

Is it worth repairing an Apple Watch?

In the vast majority of cases, yes. A repair usually costs a small fraction of a replacement, and you avoid unpairing, setting everything up again and losing your Activity history. It's an especially easy decision on stainless steel, titanium and Ultra models. We'll tell you honestly if your watch isn't worth repairing.

How long does an Apple Watch repair take?

Most repairs booked in person are completed the same day. Posted-in repairs are usually finished within 24 to 48 hours of arriving with us. More involved work such as water damage treatment can take longer, and we'll always give you a realistic timescale upfront.

Which Apple Watch models do you repair?

All of them - Series 3 through Series 11, both SE generations, and the Ultra, Ultra 2 and Ultra 3. Select your model above to see specific repair options.

Will my Apple Watch still be water-resistant after a repair?

Yes. We reseal every watch with fresh waterproof adhesive and pressure-test it before returning it, restoring water resistance for swimming and everyday use. One honest caveat for Ultra owners: once a watch has been opened, its original dive certification cannot be formally re-established by anyone, including Apple.

Will I lose my data or Activity history?

No. Hardware repairs don't touch your data, and your paired iPhone holds your health and Activity history regardless. We never wipe a watch without your explicit permission.

Do you offer a warranty on Apple Watch repairs?

Every repair includes a 12-month warranty covering the parts fitted and the work carried out.

Can you repair a water-damaged Apple Watch?

Often, yes - and the sooner it reaches us, the better the outcome. Corrosion spreads over days and weeks, so a watch brought in quickly has a much higher chance of full recovery than one that's been sitting in a drawer for a month.

Can Apple Watch scratches be removed?

Light scratches on an aluminium case can often be improved. Scratches on the display glass cannot be polished out without damaging the coating, so display replacement is the only genuine fix there. Sapphire-fronted models resist scratching far better in the first place.

How do I find my Apple Watch model number?

Open the Watch app on your iPhone, tap General, then About - your model number is listed there. You can also read the tiny engraving on the underside of the top lug.

How does the mail-in repair service work?

Book online, post your watch to us, and we'll diagnose it, confirm the price for your approval, repair it and return it fully insured. Return delivery is free, and there's nothing to pay if we can't fix it.

Will an independent repair void my Apple warranty?

Yes - any third-party repair ends remaining Apple warranty or AppleCare+ cover, and that applies to every independent repairer. If your watch is still under warranty, it's worth checking your position with Apple first. We'll happily talk you through it.
