How we protect your data?
The Huawei P8 is the oldest Huawei phone we repair, and that shapes everything on this page. At £79 for a screen replacement and £49 for a battery, the prices are among the lowest we offer – but whether spending them makes sense depends entirely on what you intend to do with the phone afterwards, and we would rather talk about that honestly than take a booking.
How much does a Huawei P8 repair cost?
Our fixed prices at iExpert Repairs are:
- Screen replacement – £79
- Battery replacement – £49
- Charging port repair – £49
- Diagnostic service – £15
Each includes the part, the labour and a 12 month guarantee. The £15 diagnostic applies only to faults outside this list and includes a fixed quote before any work begins.
The honest position on a phone this old
The P8 launched in 2015. It stopped receiving software updates a very long time ago, a large proportion of current apps will not install on it at all, and many that do will run poorly or refuse to connect to modern services. No repair changes any of that.
So we will not pretend a screen replacement turns this into a usable modern phone, because it does not. What a repair can do is keep a working object working for a defined purpose. If you have one as a spare handset, a phone for emergencies in a car or a drawer, a device for a child who only needs calls, or simply a phone you want working long enough to get the photographs off it, then £49 is entirely reasonable money. If you are hoping to use it as your main phone again, spend it elsewhere.
The aluminium body is why so many survived
Huawei built the P8 with a metal unibody at a time when most phones at its price were plastic. It dents and scuffs rather than shattering, and that is a large part of why a phone from 2015 still turns up at a repair counter at all – the outside has usually outlasted the software.
It also means the damage we see is concentrated at the front. Screens rather than rear panels are what bring a P8 to us, and that is a cheaper problem to have.
The torch test worth trying first
The P8 uses an LCD with a backlight behind it, which gives you a free diagnostic. If the phone appears dead – black screen, but it still rings, vibrates or shows up when connected to a computer – take it into a dark room and shine a torch at the display at an angle.
If you can faintly make out the home screen, the backlight has failed rather than the handset. Everything on it is intact and recoverable. On a phone of this vintage, that check is very often the difference between reaching a decade of photographs and losing them entirely, and it costs nothing to run.
What is stored on it usually matters more than the phone
This is the point we would most like people to take from this page. On hardware this old, the value is rarely in the device. It is in the photographs, the messages and the contacts that were saved before cloud backup was something everybody did automatically.
Those can frequently be recovered even from a P8 that will never switch on properly again. Our data recovery service covers exactly that, and on a phone at this age it is regularly the more sensible thing to pay for than a repair. Ask us about it before writing the handset off – that conversation costs nothing.
Battery replacement at £49
After a decade the original cell holds very little of its designed capacity, and a P8 that will not last an hour away from a charger is behaving exactly as a battery of that age does rather than being broken.
The cell is bonded in and has to be eased out slowly rather than levered, since a chassis this old is easy to damage in the process. If the phone is slow rather than short of charge, a battery will not help – that is age and software, and we would rather say so than take £49 for a repair that disappoints you.
Charging faults on a decade-old socket
Change the cable first, because after this long virtually every original cable has failed internally at the strain relief. Then change the mains plug. Then look into the socket with a torch for compacted pocket lint, which is close to guaranteed on a phone that has spent ten years in pockets and bags, and which we clear at no charge. Only then is our £49 charging port repair the right answer.
What if the repair does not make sense?
We will tell you, and on a P8 that is a genuine possibility. Two faults together takes you well past the point where the arithmetic works, and there is no version of that conversation where we quote for both and hope you do not run the numbers yourself.
Is it slow, or is it simply full?
Worth separating before you spend anything, because only one of them costs money. The P8 shipped with very little storage by any current standard, and once close to capacity it behaves exactly like a failing phone: apps crash on opening, the camera refuses to save shots, everything drags and updates fail without explanation.
Move photographs off, clear cached data and uninstall whatever you no longer use. It costs nothing and on handsets of this vintage it resolves the complaint more often than any repair would. If the phone still misbehaves afterwards, that is the point at which a diagnostic earns its keep – and our £15 covers a proper look with a fixed quote before any work starts.

Huawei P8 Repairs: An Honest Assessment
Is a 2015 Huawei P8 worth repairing?
Only for a defined purpose, and we would rather say so than take a booking you regret. As a spare handset, an emergency phone in a car, a device for a child who only needs calls, or a phone you want working long enough to get the photographs off, £49 is reasonable. As a main phone, spend the money elsewhere.
Will a repair make my P8 run modern apps?
No, and no repair can. The P8 stopped receiving software updates a very long time ago, a large proportion of current apps will not install on it at all, and many that do run poorly or refuse to connect to modern services. That is the software rather than the hardware.
My P8 is black but still rings. Is it dead?
Probably not. Take it into a dark room and shine a torch at the screen at an angle - if the home screen is faintly visible, the backlight has failed rather than the phone, and everything on it is intact. On a handset this old that check is often the difference between reaching a decade of photographs and losing them.
Will a new battery make my P8 faster?
No. Slowness on a phone this age is software and app demands rather than the cell, and we would rather tell you that than take £49 for a repair that disappoints you. A battery replacement helps when the phone will not hold charge - after a decade the original holds very little of its designed capacity.
Why has my P8 survived when the software has not?
Huawei built it with a metal unibody at a time when most phones at its price were plastic. It dents and scuffs rather than shattering, which is why a 2015 handset still turns up at a repair counter at all. The damage we see is concentrated at the front, which is the cheaper problem to have.
What if my P8 is beyond economic repair?
We tell you. On hardware this old the value is rarely in the device - it is in the photographs, messages and contacts saved before cloud backup was automatic. Those can frequently be recovered even from a phone that will never switch on properly again, and that is usually the better thing to pay for.
