At £75 for a screen replacement, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is the cheapest tablet repair on our entire list. It is also one of the most commonly dropped devices we see, for the obvious reason: it is small, light, and very often in the hands of a child.
How much does a Galaxy Tab A7 Lite repair cost?
Our fixed prices at iExpert Repairs are:
- Screen replacement – £75
- Battery replacement – £59
- Charging port repair – £59
- Diagnostic service – £15
Each includes the part, the labour and a 12 month guarantee, with no assessment fee added afterwards. The £15 diagnostic applies only to faults outside this list and includes a fixed quote before any work begins.
The A7 Lite is not a smaller Tab A7
Despite the name, these are two different tablets with different display assemblies and different prices. The Lite is noticeably smaller, and a panel ordered against the wrong model simply will not fit. A quote for one tells you nothing reliable about the other.
Open Settings, then About tablet, and read the model number before you ring anywhere. It takes seconds, it is definitive, and quoting it when you contact us means we can confirm the correct part and the correct price straight away rather than on a second call.
The cheapest tablet repair we offer, and the honest limits of that
At £75 a screen and £59 a battery, single repairs on this tablet are easy arithmetic. A working A7 Lite with a cracked screen is worth putting right, and you keep the child’s games, the downloaded programmes and the accounts exactly as they are, which on a device somebody small is attached to matters more than the hardware does.
Two repairs together is a different matter. A screen and a battery at once comes close to what the tablet is worth, and at that stage we will say so rather than quoting for both. Liquid damage on a device at this price is rarely economic either. We would rather lose the job than take £134 for a tablet worth less than that.
A metal back is why so many survive
Samsung gave the A7 Lite an aluminium rear rather than the plastic usually fitted at this price. It dents and scuffs rather than cracking into pieces, and it takes drops that would spider a glass-backed device. That is a large part of why so many of these are still in service after years of genuinely rough handling.
It also means the damage we see on them is concentrated at the front. Screens, not rear panels, are what bring an A7 Lite to us, and that is a cheaper problem to have.
The torch test that saves these from the bin
If the tablet appears dead but still makes sounds, vibrates, or shows up when plugged into a computer, take it into a dark room and shine a torch at the screen at an angle. If you can faintly make out the home screen, the backlight has failed rather than the tablet itself.
Everything on it is intact and recoverable, and you are looking at a £75 screen repair rather than a dead device. On the cheapest tablet we handle, that single free check is very often the difference between a working machine and one that gets thrown away.
The A7 Lite does not work with an S Pen
The S Pen relies on electromagnetic resonance, which needs a dedicated digitiser layer built into the display at manufacture. Samsung fits that to its S-series tablets and not to the A-series, so an S Pen bought for an A7 Lite will not work and no repair can make it work.
If you want pressure-sensitive stylus input on a small budget, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is the cheapest Samsung tablet that genuinely supports it. We would rather explain that than take a booking to investigate a fault that does not exist.
Battery replacement at £59
The cell is bonded in with adhesive that has to be eased out slowly rather than levered, and the tablet is charge-tested after reassembly rather than simply screwed back together. On a tablet used daily by a child, batteries get cycled hard and this is a common reason they arrive with us.
Confirm the battery is the problem first. A worn cell handles reading and streaming and then drops sharply during video calls or games. If the tablet is instead simply slow, check how full the storage is – the A7 Lite shipped with very little, fills up quickly with downloaded video and games, and a nearly full device crawls regardless of battery health. Clearing space costs nothing and fixes that complaint more often than any repair would.
Charging faults: three free checks
Change the USB-C cable, then change the mains adapter, then look into the socket with a torch for compacted lint. On a small tablet carried in bags and left on floors, lint is the single most likely cause of a cable that will not seat properly, and clearing it is not a chargeable job here.
Only when all three come back clean is our £59 charging port repair the right answer. On the cheapest tablet we repair, paying for port work that a replacement cable would have solved is a genuinely poor outcome.
No water resistance
The A7 Lite carries no IP rating and has no sealing designed for liquid. It also spends its life exactly where spills happen – sofas, kitchen tables, car seats. If liquid gets in, switch it off immediately and do not connect a charger, because running power through a wet board is the most common way a recoverable tablet becomes a dead one. Our water damage repair service covers this.
Check the microSD card before assuming the worst
The A7 Lite takes a microSD card, which no iPad does. Photographs, videos and downloads saved to the card rather than internal storage are physically safe even if the tablet is not, and readable in any card reader immediately. It is the first thing to check when facing a device that will not switch on, and it matters most here – owners of the cheapest tablets are the least likely to be paying for cloud backup. For files on internal storage, our data recovery service can often still retrieve them.
