That has a practical effect on the repair decision. On a high-end iPad Pro, a cracked screen prompts a serious conversation about insurance and replacement value. On an Air 6, £299 against a device still worth several times that is usually a simple yes. If cost of ownership matters to you, this is the quiet advantage the Air has always had over the Pro.

The Air 6 uses a fully laminated display, meaning the glass, digitiser and LCD are bonded into one assembly. There is no cheaper glass-only repair available, and any quote promising one on this model should be treated with suspicion. Everything is replaced together, which is why the price is what it is.

If the display beneath the cracks is still showing a clean image and touch works everywhere, the damage is structural rather than electrical and you have time to think.
