The S22 Ultra is a significant phone. It was the first Ultra with an S Pen silo built into the body, which is where the Note line quietly ended and merged into the S range. Boxy chassis, curved display, built-in stylus: for a lot of people it is still the last proper Note.

Galaxy S22 Ultra Screen Replacement (£169)

A large curved AMOLED panel bonded beneath toughened glass, replaced as a complete assembly. The curved edges are the weak point and worth understanding. On a flat display a side impact meets the frame. On a curved one the glass wraps around the edge, so there is active display exactly where the phone lands. S22 Ultra screens crack from the side far more often than from the corner, and a case with a raised lip matters more on this model than on flat-screened Galaxies.

• Cracks running along or from a curved edge
• Dead zones where touch no longer registers
• Vertical green, pink or white lines down the panel
• Black or discoloured patches spreading over days
• Ghost touches, which curved panels are particularly prone to after damage

The vertical green line deserves its own paragraph on this generation, because the S22 range is where we see it most. A line appears on the AMOLED panel with no drop, no water and no obvious cause, very often within days of a major software update. Owners quite reasonably conclude it is a bug and wait for a fix. It is not a bug. It is a hardware failure in the panel, it widens over weeks, and no update has ever cleared one. If that is what yours is doing, read phone screen flickering and then bring it in, because it will not improve.

The fingerprint reader sits beneath the display, so a replacement panel has to be seated correctly and the sensor tested afterwards. We do that before the phone goes back. More on our Samsung screen repair page.

Galaxy S22 Ultra Battery Replacement (£59)

On a phone of this age this is almost always the repair worth doing first, and at £59 it is the cheapest way by a distance to make an S22 Ultra properly usable again.

• Capacity noticeably below where it started, under Settings then Battery and device care
• Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed, worse in cold weather
• Charge dropping in steps rather than smoothly
• The handset warm during undemanding use
• Needing a charger by mid-afternoon where it once lasted the day

Rule out software before paying for hardware, because background activity and a recent update imitate a failing cell convincingly. S Pen Faults on the First Silo Ultra

This was Samsung’s first attempt at fitting an S Pen silo into an Ultra chassis, and the silo is a hole cut through an otherwise sealed body. On a phone of this age it is a known route for dust and moisture, and the assembly itself sees wear from thousands of insertions.

• The pen no longer registering on screen at all
• The pen failing to eject, or sitting loose in the silo
• The phone no longer detecting the pen being removed
• Bluetooth pen features working while writing does not, or the reverse
• Grit or debris visible in the silo opening

Most of these are the silo assembly or its connector rather than the pen itself, and they are quoted individually after a diagnostic. Bring the pen with the phone so we can test both together.

Galaxy S22 Ultra Camera Repair (£69)

The S22 Ultra uses individual lens rings standing proud of the body rather than a single shared housing, so each lens takes direct impacts and cracks on its own. That often works in your favour: replacing one cracked ring costs far less than a whole array.

• Cracked lens cover on one lens with the others undamaged
• Blurry images across every shooting mode after a drop
• Rattling or grinding as optical stabilisation fails
• Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
• The zoom lens dead while the main and ultra-wide still work

Galaxy S22 Ultra Back Glass Replacement (£59)

Bonded rear glass removed with a laser separator rather than heat and prying tools. The wireless charging coil sits directly beneath and rarely survives an improvised attempt.

• Loose fragments scratch the camera lenses from behind
• The moisture seal fails as soon as the glass cracks
• Wireless charging becomes intermittent
• Trade-in value drops by more than the repair costs

Galaxy S22 Ultra Charging Repair (£55)

On a phone this age expect a USB-C socket well packed with compacted lint, which is frequently the whole problem rather than a failed port. Clearing it is not a chargeable repair here.

Genuine failure means charging at one angle only, cutting out when the phone moves, or a connector that feels loose. Try another cable and mains plug, then read why a phone will not charge. Our Samsung charging repair page covers the work.

Water Damage and Unclear Faults

The S22 Ultra has a water resistance rating, but ratings describe a phone factory-fresh and undamaged. A drop, a cracked back or a worn S Pen silo all compromise it, and on a phone of this age the seals are past their best regardless. Ratings also cover fresh water, not sea water.

In-store repairs are usually completed within one to three hours on the same day and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned tracked, most customers seeing their phone in two to three working days.
