iPhone 17 Pro Repair Costs, Explained Without the Sales Pitch

Buying a Pro model means paying for a better camera system, a brighter display and a faster chip. What nobody mentions at the point of sale is that those same components make the phone more expensive to fix. A telephoto lens costs more than a wide lens. A ProMotion OLED panel costs more than a standard one. When something breaks, the Pro premium arrives a second time.

That is not a reason to avoid repairing it. An iPhone 17 Pro is still worth several times the cost of any repair listed below, and replacing the handset over a cracked screen is a poor financial decision. It is a reason to understand what you are paying for, which is what this page sets out to do. Screen Replacement for the iPhone 17 Pro (£239)

The Pro display is a high refresh rate OLED bonded beneath Ceramic Shield glass. Glass and panel form one sealed unit, so a crack means the whole assembly is replaced. There is no way to swap the glass alone on a panel of this type and have it survive normal use, whatever a cheaper quote might imply.

What usually brings a 17 Pro in for a screen:

• Impact cracks radiating from a corner, which is where most drops land
• Touch input failing in a band or patch of the display
• Coloured lines, usually green or pink, appearing after a knock
• Dark blotches that grow larger over several days as the panel bleeds
• The display staying black while the phone still rings and vibrates

That last symptom is worth pausing on. A phone that rings but shows nothing is often a display connector that has popped off its socket rather than a broken panel, and reseating it costs far less than a replacement. Battery Replacement for the iPhone 17 Pro (£95)

A lithium battery is a consumable. It degrades whether you look after it or not, and the Pro models work theirs harder because the display and chip demand more from it. Check yours under Settings, Battery, then Battery Health and Charging.

Typical signs it has had enough:

• Maximum capacity sitting below 80 percent
• Shutdowns at 20 or 30 percent, particularly outdoors in winter
• Charge percentage dropping in sudden jumps rather than steadily
• The phone feeling warm when you are not doing anything demanding
• Needing a top-up by early afternoon when it used to last all day

Back Glass Replacement for the iPhone 17 Pro (£99)

Rear glass on current iPhones is structurally bonded to the frame, and separating it needs a laser rather than heat and a suction cup. This is why a lot of shops decline the job or quote wildly. Attempted with the wrong tools, the usual casualties are the wireless charging coil, the MagSafe magnet array, and the camera housing seal.

Cracked rear glass is not purely cosmetic:

• Loose fragments migrate and scratch the camera lenses from behind
• The moisture seal is broken, so ordinary rain becomes a real risk
• MagSafe and wireless charging can drop out intermittently
• Trade-in value falls further than the repair costs to fix

Charging Port Repair for the iPhone 17 Pro (£95)

Most 17 Pro handsets that will not charge do not need a new port. They need the compacted lint at the bottom of the USB-C connector removing so the cable can seat fully. We will tell you if that is the case rather than charging you for a part you do not need.

Actual port failure tends to look like this: charging only works at a specific angle, the connection drops when the phone is moved, the cable feels loose in the socket, or the phone charges but refuses to transfer data. Camera Repair for the iPhone 17 Pro (£109)

The Pro camera system is the reason most people choose this model over the standard 17, so a fault here matters more than it would elsewhere. Camera work splits into two very different jobs at very different prices: replacing a cracked outer lens cover, or replacing the module itself.

• Soft or blurry photos across every lens, typically after a drop
• A rattle or grinding noise as optical stabilisation fails
• Cracked lens cover glass with the module beneath undamaged
• The Camera app opening to a black screen or crashing
• The main lens working while the telephoto or ultra-wide does not

Liquid Damage and Faults We Cannot Price Up Front

Water damage is the one category where an honest shop cannot give you a fixed price. Corrosion spreads unpredictably, and what looks like a dead phone on Monday can behave differently by Wednesday. We assess these individually, clean the board properly, and tell you plainly whether the repair is economic. Turnaround, Warranty and Booking

In-store repairs are usually finished within one to three hours and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically completed within eight to twelve hours of reaching the workshop and go back to you on tracked delivery, with most customers seeing their phone again inside two to three working days. Every eligible repair carries a 12 month warranty covering the part and the labour. If something related to our work fails, bring it back and we will put it right. It does not cover fresh accidental damage, liquid damage, or unrelated faults, and third party work afterwards voids it. We would rather be clear about that now than argue later.
