iPhone 16 Pro Repairs Done in Our Own Workshop

Plenty of shops will take your iPhone 16 Pro, post it to a third party, and hand it back a week later with no real idea what was done to it. We do not work that way. Repairs happen at our bench in Essex, by the people who quoted you, which is why we can tell you what we found inside your phone rather than reading it off a job sheet.

The 16 Pro sits in an awkward spot for repair pricing. It is close enough to current that parts are not cheap, but common enough that we see several a week and know its failure patterns well. Here is what each job costs and what actually tends to go wrong.

Screen Replacement (£239)

A bonded OLED panel under Ceramic Shield glass, replaced as a complete assembly. Glass and display are laminated together, so a crack in one means replacing both. It is the single most common repair we carry out on this model.

• Impact cracks, typically starting at a corner
• Dead zones where the touchscreen ignores input
• Green or pink lines running vertically down the panel
• Black patches bleeding outwards over several days
• Phantom touches registering with nobody holding the phone

Before you assume the worst: if the phone rings, vibrates and clearly still works but the screen is dark, that is often a dislodged display connector, not a dead panel. Battery Replacement (£99)

By now most 16 Pro handsets are well into their second year, which is exactly when battery complaints start. Degradation is a chemical process tied to charge cycles, not a manufacturing fault. Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health and Charging shows you where yours stands.

• Maximum capacity reading below 80 percent
• Abrupt shutdowns with charge still on the meter
• Charge level dropping in steps rather than smoothly
• The handset warm in your hand during light use
• Needing a charger by lunchtime when it once lasted the day

Back Glass Replacement (£99)

Structurally bonded rear glass, removed with a laser separator. This is the repair that separates properly equipped workshops from the rest, and it is why quotes for it vary so wildly. Done with heat and prying tools, the wireless charging coil and MagSafe magnet ring underneath rarely come through intact.

Reasons to deal with it rather than live with it:

• Loose fragments scratch the camera lenses from behind
• The water seal is gone from the moment it cracks
• Wireless and MagSafe charging become unreliable
• Trade-in value drops by more than the repair costs

Charging Repair (£89)

Start with the obvious. Compacted pocket lint in the USB-C socket stops the cable seating and is by some distance the most common reason a 16 Pro will not charge. It takes minutes to clear and does not need a new port. We will tell you if that is your answer.

Port failure proper shows as charging that only works at one angle, cuts out with movement, a connector that feels loose, or charging that works while data transfer fails. Camera Repair (£99)

The 16 Pro introduced the Camera Control on the side of the handset, and that is worth knowing about when something goes wrong, because a camera that will not launch is not always a camera fault. A failed Camera Control, a damaged flex, or a software issue can all produce the same symptom.

• Blurry photographs in every mode following a drop
• Rattling or grinding from failed optical stabilisation
• Cracked outer lens cover with the module beneath undamaged
• Camera app opening black or crashing immediately
• Ultra-wide or telephoto dead while the main lens works

Because the rear camera array stands proud of the body, lens cover damage is common even in cases. A cover replacement is far cheaper than a module, and we establish which you actually need before quoting. If nothing was dropped, phone camera not working covers the software checks.

Liquid Damage and Unexplained Faults

We will not give you a fixed price for water damage before seeing the board, and you should be wary of anyone who does. Corrosion progresses unevenly and the honest answer often only emerges once the phone is open and cleaned. Anything else without a clear cause gets a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you go ahead. That covers random restarts, signal loss, muffled audio and drain that makes no sense. Start with phone keeps restarting or phone overheating depending on the symptom.

How Long, What Is Covered, Where to Find Us

In-store repairs are normally finished inside one to three hours on the same day, and you can wait while we work. Mail-in repairs are usually completed within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned on tracked delivery, with most people getting the phone back within two to three working days. All eligible repairs include a 12 month warranty on the part and the labour. If something related to our work fails, we inspect it and put it right at no cost. New accidental damage, liquid damage and unrelated faults sit outside that, and third party work afterwards voids it.
