Galaxy S22 Plus Repairs
The S22 Plus sits between the compact S22 and the Note-style S22 Ultra, and it is arguably the best balanced of the three. Flat display rather than the Ultra’s curves, a decent battery, and none of the S Pen complications. A screen is £149, a battery £59.
All work is carried out at our Essex repair centre with a twelve month warranty on parts and labour.
Galaxy S22 Plus Screen Replacement (£149)
A flat AMOLED panel bonded beneath toughened glass, replaced as a complete assembly. The flat design is genuinely more robust than the S22 Ultra’s curved panel of the same year, because a side impact meets the frame rather than active display.
- Cracks running from an edge or corner impact
- Dead zones where touch no longer registers
- Vertical green, pink or white lines down the panel
- Black or discoloured patches spreading over several days
- Ghost touches occurring unprompted
The vertical green line is worth taking seriously on this generation specifically, because the S22 range is where we see it most often. It appears with no drop and no water, frequently within days of a major software update, and owners understandably assume a patch will fix it. It will not. It is a hardware failure in the panel, it widens over weeks, and the only remedy is a new display. Read phone screen flickering if that matches yours.
The fingerprint reader sits under the display, so a replacement panel must be seated correctly and the sensor tested afterwards. We check it before the phone goes back. More on our Samsung screen repair page.
Galaxy S22 Plus Battery Replacement (£59)
On a handset of this age this is the repair that decides whether it stays in daily service, and at £59 it is easily the best money you can spend on one.
- Capacity noticeably below where it started
- Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed, worse in cold weather
- Charge dropping in steps rather than smoothly
- The handset warm during undemanding use
- Not reaching the end of the day where it once managed comfortably
Eliminate software first, because replacing a healthy cell achieves nothing. Our guide on why a phone battery drains so fast covers the causes in order, and Samsung battery replacement lists pricing across the range. If it runs hot, read phone overheating.
Galaxy S22 Plus Back Glass Replacement (£69)
Bonded rear glass removed with a laser separator. A larger phone means a larger bonded surface area, which makes clean removal harder rather than easier, and the wireless charging coil beneath will not survive heat and prying tools.
- Loose fragments scratch the camera lenses from behind
- The moisture seal fails as soon as the glass cracks
- Wireless charging becomes intermittent
- Trade-in value drops by more than the repair costs
Our cracked back glass guide explains why home kits fail.
Galaxy S22 Plus Charging Repair (£55)
On a phone this age expect years of compacted lint in the USB-C socket, and it is very often the entire problem rather than a failed port. Clearing it is not a chargeable repair here.
Genuine failure means charging at one angle only, cutting out when the phone moves, a connector that feels loose, or charging that works while data transfer does not. Try another cable and mains plug, then read why a phone will not charge. Our Samsung charging repair page covers the replacement.
Galaxy S22 Plus Camera Repair (£69)
The S22 generation uses individual lens rings standing proud of the body rather than a single shared housing, so each lens takes direct impacts and cracks on its own. Replacing one cracked ring costs far less than a whole array, which is often better news than it first looks.
- Cracked lens cover on one lens with the others undamaged
- Blurry images across every shooting mode after a drop
- Rattling or grinding as optical stabilisation fails
- Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
- Ultra-wide or telephoto dead while the main lens works
Where nothing was dropped, phone camera not working covers the software causes.
Is It Still Worth Repairing?
Fair question on a phone of this age. A single repair on an otherwise sound S22 Plus is nearly always worth doing, and a £59 battery in particular buys years of useful life for very little. Where it becomes marginal is a handset needing three or more separate things at once, or one that has already had liquid in it. We will say so plainly rather than quoting for everything and letting you work it out afterwards.
Protecting a Phone This Age
Once a handset is past its warranty and worth less than it cost to buy, the sensible approach shifts from insuring it to simply not breaking it. A few things genuinely help.
- A case with raised corners, which absorbs the drops that actually crack panels
- A raised camera bezel so the lens rings do not take the impact face-up
- A tempered glass protector rated for an under-display fingerprint reader
- Charging with a good quality cable, since worn cables damage ports over time
- Blowing out the charging socket occasionally rather than waiting for it to fail
That last one costs nothing and prevents the most common charging fault we see. A quick clean every few months keeps lint from compacting into the bottom of the socket in the first place.
Water Damage and Unclear Faults
The S22 Plus has a water resistance rating, but that describes the phone factory-fresh and undamaged, and on a handset this age the seals have long since degraded. Ratings also cover fresh water rather than sea water, which matters locally.
Liquid damage is assessed rather than quoted. See phone water damage repair, and phone data recovery if the contents matter more than the handset. Anything else unclear carries a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you proceed, and phone keeps restarting is a good first read.
Turnaround, Warranty and Booking
In-store repairs are usually completed within one to three hours on the same day and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned tracked, most customers seeing their phone in two to three working days. Send-back postage is free and Klarna is available at checkout.
Every eligible repair includes a 12 month warranty on parts and labour whatever the age of the phone. Faults relating to our work are put right at no cost. New accidental damage, liquid damage and unrelated faults are excluded.

We also repair the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy S23 Plus, with the full range on our Samsung repairs page.
Galaxy S22 Plus Repairs: Honest Answers
Is the flat S22 Plus screen tougher than the S22 Ultra's?
Meaningfully, yes. The S22 and S22 Plus both used flat displays while only the Ultra kept curved edges. On a curved panel a side impact meets active display; on a flat one it meets the metal frame. We replace proportionally fewer S22 Plus screens than S22 Ultra screens for exactly that reason.
A line appeared on my S22 Plus after an update. Will it go away?
No. The S22 generation is where we see this most, and it is a hardware failure in the AMOLED panel rather than a software bug. It appears with no drop and no water, frequently within days of a major update, and owners understandably wait for a patch. It widens over weeks and only a new display resolves it.
How do I protect a phone that is out of warranty?
A case with raised corners, a raised camera bezel, and a tempered glass protector rated for an under-display fingerprint reader. Beyond that, blow out the charging socket occasionally rather than waiting for it to fail, and use a decent cable, because worn cheap cables damage ports over time. None of that costs much and all of it prevents the repairs we see most.
Is an S22 Plus worth repairing at this age?
On a single fault, nearly always. A £59 battery is easily the best money you can spend on one and it addresses what most owners actually complain about. Where it becomes marginal is three or more separate faults at once, or liquid damage. We will tell you plainly rather than quoting for everything and letting you work it out.
Can one lens ring be replaced rather than the whole camera?
Yes, often, on this generation. The S22 series uses individual lens rings standing proud of the body rather than a shared housing, so each lens takes direct impacts and cracks on its own. Replacing one cracked ring costs far less than a whole array, which is usually better news than people expect.
Why does lint cause so many charging faults?
Because pockets are full of it and USB-C sockets are exactly the right shape to compact it into the base. Once packed in, the cable cannot seat fully and the phone charges intermittently or stops entirely. It is the most common cause we see, clearing it is not a chargeable repair here, and a periodic clean prevents it.
