The Pixel 6 Pro was Google’s big redesign, introducing the camera bar that every Pixel has carried since. It also used a curved display, which is the single biggest reason these come to us with cracked screens.
How much does a Google Pixel 6 Pro screen replacement cost?
A Google Pixel 6 Pro screen replacement costs £159 at iExpert Repairs. The panel is a curved OLED display bonded beneath toughened glass and is replaced as a complete assembly, because the glass and display are laminated together.
The curved edges are the weak point. On a flat display a side impact meets the metal frame, but on a curved panel the glass wraps around the edge, so there is active display exactly where the phone lands. Pixel 6 Pro screens crack from the side far more often than the corner, and a case with a raised lip makes a genuine difference on this model.
- Cracks running along or from a curved edge
- Dead zones where the touchscreen no longer registers
- Green, pink or white vertical lines down the panel
- Black or discoloured patches spreading over several days
- Ghost touches, which curved panels are particularly prone to after damage
See our Google Pixel screen repair page for the process.
Why is my Pixel 6 Pro fingerprint reader so slow?
This is the most common Pixel 6 Pro complaint we hear, and in most cases nothing is broken. The Pixel 6 generation used an under-display fingerprint sensor that was widely reported as slower and less reliable than the readers on later Pixels, and Google addressed some of it through software updates rather than hardware.
Before assuming a fault, try these, all of which cost nothing:
- Delete your saved fingerprints and re-register them from scratch
- Register the same finger twice, which genuinely improves recognition on this model
- Remove any screen protector and test, because thick ones interfere with the sensor
- Make sure the phone is fully updated
- Press slightly longer and flatter than you would on a newer phone
If the reader has stopped working entirely rather than being merely slow, that is different and worth diagnosing. It is also worth knowing that a cracked screen frequently takes the fingerprint sensor with it, because the sensor sits within the display assembly, so one repair fixes both.
How much is a Google Pixel 6 Pro battery replacement?
A Google Pixel 6 Pro battery replacement costs £65 at iExpert Repairs and is usually completed the same day. On a phone of this age it is nearly always the repair that makes the biggest difference, and often the only one needed.
- Capacity noticeably below where it started, shown under Settings, Battery
- Lasting a few hours where it once managed a full day
- The phone shutting down suddenly with charge still displayed
- Charge dropping in large steps rather than falling smoothly
- The handset running warm during light use
Rule out software first with our guide on why a phone battery drains so fast, and see our Google Pixel battery replacement page for pricing. If the phone runs hot, read phone overheating.
Why is my Google Pixel 6 Pro not charging?
Most Google Pixel 6 Pro handsets that will not charge do not need a new port. On a phone of this age expect a USB-C socket well packed with compacted lint, and clearing that is not a chargeable repair at iExpert Repairs. A genuine Pixel 6 Pro charging port repair costs £59.
The port has actually failed if charging works only at a particular angle, cuts out when the phone is moved, or the connector feels loose. Change the cable and mains plug first, because worn cables cause more of these faults than broken ports do. See why a phone will not charge, and our Google Pixel charging repair page.
How much does a Google Pixel 6 Pro camera repair cost?
A Google Pixel 6 Pro camera repair costs £69. Camera work splits into replacing a cracked outer lens cover and replacing the module underneath, and we establish which you need before quoting.
- Cracked lens cover with the camera modules beneath undamaged
- Blurry images across every shooting mode after a drop
- Rattling or grinding as optical stabilisation fails
- The Camera app opening to a black screen or crashing on launch
- The telephoto lens dead while the main and ultra-wide still work
The Pixel 6 Pro introduced the camera bar that spans the full width of the rear, and it stands proud enough that it makes contact first when the phone lands face up. Cracked cover glass over perfectly healthy modules is very common on this generation and far cheaper to fix than it looks. Where nothing was dropped, phone camera not working covers the software checks.
Can a water damaged Google Pixel 6 Pro be repaired?
A water damaged Google Pixel 6 Pro is assessed rather than quoted, because corrosion spreads unpredictably and an honest price only emerges once the board is open and cleaned. The water resistance rating describes the phone factory-fresh and undamaged, and on a handset of this age the seals should be treated as degraded. Liquid damage is never covered by manufacturer warranty.
See our phone water damage repair page, and phone data recovery if recovering photographs matters more than saving the handset.
How long does a Google Pixel 6 Pro repair take?
Most Google Pixel 6 Pro repairs are completed within one to three hours in store on the same day, and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned by tracked delivery, with most customers receiving the phone within two to three working days. Send-back postage is free and Klarna is available at checkout.

Pixel 6 Pro Repairs: Questions We Get Asked
Why is my Pixel 6 Pro fingerprint reader so slow?
In most cases nothing is broken. The Pixel 6 generation used an under-display fingerprint sensor widely reported as slower and less reliable than later Pixels, and Google improved some of it through software rather than hardware. Delete and re-register your fingerprints, register the same finger twice, remove any screen protector and test, and make sure the phone is fully updated. Those four things fix most cases for free.
Does a cracked Pixel 6 Pro screen break the fingerprint sensor?
Frequently, yes. The sensor sits within the display assembly, so a cracked panel often takes fingerprint recognition with it even where touch still works. If both stopped at the same moment, that is why, and a single screen replacement resolves both. We test the fingerprint reader on every Pixel before it goes back to you.
Why do Pixel 6 Pro screens crack at the edges?
Because it uses a curved display. On a flat screen a side impact meets the metal frame, but on a curved panel the glass wraps around the edge so the display itself is exactly where the phone lands. Google moved back to flat panels on the Pixel 8 Pro for this reason. A case with a raised lip makes a genuine difference on a 6 Pro.
Is a Pixel 6 Pro still worth repairing?
On a single fault, yes. A £65 battery on an otherwise sound 6 Pro transforms daily use and the phone still handles everything most people need. Where it becomes a real decision is a handset wanting a screen and a battery together, which starts to approach what a good used replacement costs. We will give you an honest view rather than quoting for everything.
My Pixel 6 Pro photos have gone hazy. Is the camera broken?
Check the lens cover first. The Pixel 6 Pro introduced the camera bar, which stands proud of the body and makes contact when the phone lands face up, so scratched or cracked cover glass over healthy modules is extremely common on this generation. Clean it properly with a microfibre cloth before booking, because a smeared lens explains a good share of these complaints.
Do you repair Google Pixel phones by post?
Yes. We run a nationwide mail-in repair service with free send-back delivery, so wherever you are in the UK you can post the handset to us and have it returned by tracked delivery. Mail-in Pixel repairs are usually completed within eight to twelve hours of arriving, and most customers have the phone back within two to three working days.
