Galaxy A52s 5G Repairs from £55

The A52s was the mid-cycle upgrade to the A52, with a faster processor and a smoother display, and it is the version most people ended up with. Screen £79, and rear panel, camera, battery and charging all £55.

Worth noting before you get quoted anywhere: the A52s and the plain A52 are different phones with different parts. Our A52 screen is £99 while the A52s is £79, purely because of parts availability. Check which you have under Settings, About phone before ringing round, because a quote for one tells you nothing about the other.

The Free Fix to Try Before Booking a Battery

This one costs nothing and solves the problem often enough that we would rather you tried it first.

The A52s runs a high refresh rate display, which looks noticeably smoother than a standard panel but draws considerably more power. On a new phone you never notice. On one several years old with a tired cell, it is frequently the difference between reaching the evening and not.

Go to Settings, then Display, then Motion smoothness, and switch from High to Standard for a day. If your battery life recovers to something workable, the cell has degraded but not failed, and you can choose between living with a less smooth screen or spending £55 and having both. If it makes no difference whatever, the battery is genuinely finished.

Galaxy A52s 5G Battery Replacement (£55)

Assuming the refresh rate trick did not solve it, this is the repair that brings an A52s back. These are several years old now and most original cells are well past their useful capacity.

• Capacity noticeably below where it started, under Settings then Battery and device care
• Not lasting the day where it once managed comfortably
• Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed, worse in cold weather
• Charge dropping in steps rather than smoothly
• The handset warm during light use

Galaxy A52s 5G Screen Replacement (£79)

A Super AMOLED panel bonded beneath toughened glass, replaced as a complete assembly. The display was the best thing about this phone when new and it still holds up, which is why repairing one beats swapping it for a cheaper handset with a worse screen.

• Cracks radiating from a corner or edge impact
• Dead zones where touch no longer registers
• Vertical green, pink or white lines down the panel
• Black or discoloured patches spreading over days
• The fingerprint reader failing after a screen impact

The reader sits under the display, so a cracked panel often takes fingerprint recognition with it even where touch still works. If both failed at once, one repair fixes both. Any replacement panel also has to be seated correctly and the sensor tested afterwards, which is a step some shops skip and the reason people end up with a repaired phone that will not unlock reliably. Galaxy A52s 5G Charging Repair (£55)

On a phone of this age expect a USB-C socket well packed with compacted lint, which is frequently the entire problem rather than a failed port. Clearing it is not a chargeable repair here.

Genuine failure means charging that works only at one angle, cuts out when the phone is moved, a connector that feels loose, or charging that works while data transfer refuses. Bonded to the frame and removed with a laser separator. Mid-range Galaxies frequently use a composite rear panel rather than glass, and where that is the case it cracks or scuffs rather than shattering.

• Cracks and deep scuffs rather than spidering across the whole back
• The moisture seal compromised once the panel is damaged
• Debris reaching the camera lenses from behind
• Sharp edges where a panel has split

Individual lens rings standing proud of the body, so each takes direct impacts and cracks on its own. One cracked ring is far cheaper than a whole array.

Water Damage and Unclear Faults

The A52s carries a water resistance rating, but that describes the phone factory-fresh and undamaged. After a drop or a cracked rear panel the seal is compromised, and ratings cover fresh water rather than sea water.
