Galaxy A52 Repairs from £55

The A52 is the phone that made people take mid-range Samsungs seriously. Proper AMOLED display, water resistance at a price point that had never had it, and a camera good enough that most owners stopped caring about the flagship. Plenty are still going.

One thing to explain up front: the A52 screen is £99, which is more than the newer A54 and A55 at £79. That is not a markup. Panels for a model this age are made in smaller quantities than current production parts, and low-volume components cost more per unit. It is the same reason older cars are dearer to get parts for than new ones.

Galaxy A52 Battery Replacement (£55)

On an A52 this is nearly always the repair that matters, and at £55 against a £99 screen it is the obvious place to start if the phone is otherwise sound.

• Capacity noticeably below where it started, under Settings then Battery and device care
• Not reaching the end of the day where it once managed comfortably
• Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed, worse in cold weather
• Charge dropping in steps rather than smoothly
• The handset warm during light use

Before booking, try switching the display from high refresh back to standard under Settings, Display, Motion smoothness. On a phone of this age that alone sometimes restores usable battery life, and it costs nothing. If it makes no difference, the cell is genuinely done. Galaxy A52 Screen Replacement (£99)

A Super AMOLED panel bonded beneath toughened glass, replaced as a complete assembly. The A52 display was the standout feature of the phone when new and it still looks good, which is a large part of why repairing one beats replacing it with a cheaper handset.

• Cracks radiating from a corner or edge impact
• Dead zones where touch no longer registers
• Vertical green, pink or white lines down the panel
• Black or discoloured patches spreading over days
• Ghost touches occurring with nobody holding the phone

The vertical line appears on Galaxy AMOLED panels with no drop and no water, often shortly after a software update, and people wait for a patch that never comes. It is hardware, it widens over weeks, and only a new panel clears it. Read phone screen flickering if that matches yours.

Galaxy A52 Charging Repair (£55)

On a phone of this age expect a USB-C socket well packed with compacted lint, and it is frequently the whole problem rather than a failed port. Clearing it is not a chargeable repair here, and we will tell you if that is all it needed.

Genuine failure means charging that works only at one angle, cuts out when the phone is moved, a connector that feels loose, or charging that works while data transfer refuses. Galaxy A52 Rear Panel Replacement (£55)

The rear panel is bonded to the frame and removed with a laser separator. Mid-range Galaxies frequently use a composite panel rather than glass, and where that is the case it tends to crack or scuff rather than shatter into fragments. We will tell you which yours has.

• Cracks and deep scuffs rather than spidering across the whole back
• The moisture seal compromised once the panel is damaged
• Debris able to reach the camera lenses from behind
• Sharp edges where a panel has split

Galaxy A52 Camera Repair (£55)

Individual lens rings standing proud of the body rather than a shared housing, so each lens takes direct impacts and cracks on its own. Replacing one ring costs far less than a whole array.

• Cracked lens cover on one lens with the others undamaged
• Blurry images across every shooting mode after a drop
• Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
• Focus hunting continuously without settling
• Ultra-wide dead while the main lens works normally

Is an A52 Still Worth Repairing?

A battery at £55, yes, almost always. A screen at £99 needs more thought on a phone of this age and value, and we will be straight with you about it rather than simply taking the booking.

Check what yours is worth second hand before deciding, and check under Settings, Software update whether it is still receiving security patches. A phone still getting updates is worth putting money into. One that has fallen off the list is fine for calls and photographs but think twice before spending £99 on it. We would rather say that now than have you feel misled later.

Water Damage and Unclear Faults

The A52 was notable for bringing a water resistance rating to this price bracket, but that describes the phone factory-fresh and undamaged. After a drop or a cracked rear panel the seal is compromised, and on a handset this age it should be treated as degraded regardless. Ratings also cover fresh water rather than sea water.
