The Pixel 8a carries the same seven year software update commitment as the flagship Pixel 8, which makes it one of the best value phones on the market to own long term. Worth knowing though: unlike most A-series Pixels, the 8a screen costs the same £165 as the flagship rather than less.

None of that makes the 8a a bad phone to repair. It simply means the saving you made buying it does not continue into repair costs the way it does on other A-series models, and we would rather you knew that than assumed otherwise.

Is a Google Pixel 8a worth repairing?

Yes, and the reason is the software commitment. Google promised seven years of operating system and security updates for the Pixel 8a, the same as the flagship. A handset bought at launch will still be receiving security patches well into the next decade.
