iPhone 11 Repairs: The Best Seller That Refuses to Die

The iPhone 11 was the biggest selling phone in the world for a good while, and an extraordinary number are still going. We see more of these than almost any other older model, usually brought in by second or third owners who have no intention of upgrading.

They are worth keeping. The 11 had a genuinely large battery, a dual camera that still takes good photographs, and an aluminium frame that shrugs off knocks better than stainless steel does. A screen is £59 and a battery £55.

Screen Replacement (£59)

This is where people get caught out. The iPhone 11 uses an LCD panel, not the OLED fitted to the 11 Pro and Pro Max of the same year. They are entirely different parts and a quote for one does not apply to the other, so make sure whoever you speak to knows which model you actually have.

LCD screens also fail differently to OLED, and the symptoms are worth recognising:

• Cracks spreading from the impact point
• Dead areas where touch no longer registers
• White or bright blotches rather than the black bleeding OLED produces
• Backlight failure, leaving a very faint image visible under a bright light
• Ghost touches registering without any input

That backlight symptom catches people out regularly. If your 11 appears completely dead but you can just make out the home screen when you shine a torch at it, the phone is fine and the backlight has gone. Battery Replacement (£55)

At £55 this is the repair that keeps an iPhone 11 in service, and it is the one we recommend most often on this model. Six years of charge cycles have taken their toll on essentially every one of them.

• Maximum capacity below 80 percent in Settings, Battery, Battery Health
• Not lasting the day where it once managed easily
• Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed, worse in cold weather
• Charge dropping in steps rather than smoothly
• The phone feeling slow as well as short on charge

The 11 started with an unusually good battery, which means owners notice the decline sharply. And because iOS reduces peak performance on cells in poor health to prevent shutdowns, a tired battery makes the whole phone feel sluggish. Back Glass Replacement (£59)

Bonded rear glass removed with a laser separator. There is no MagSafe magnet array on this generation, but the wireless charging coil sits directly behind the panel and will not survive an attempt with heat and prying tools.

• Loose fragments scratch the camera lenses from behind
• The moisture seal fails as soon as the glass cracks
• Wireless charging becomes unreliable or stops
• Rear damage is very visible on the lighter colours these shipped in

Charging Repair (£45)

Lightning port, six years of use. The internal contacts wear, so the cable still clicks in and feels secure while the connection has become unreliable. Charging that works when you press the cable and stops when you release it is the giveaway.

Before that, expect a socket full of compacted lint. On phones this age it is frequently the whole problem and costs nothing like £45 to sort out. We clean and test before quoting. Camera Repair (£45)

The 11 uses a dual lens square housing with both lenses sharing a single piece of cover glass. That means one crack can look alarming while both modules underneath are perfectly fine, and the repair is far cheaper than it appears.

• Cracked lens cover with the modules beneath undamaged
• Blurry images across every shooting mode after a drop
• Rattling or grinding as stabilisation fails
• Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
• Ultra-wide dead while the main lens works normally

Face ID and Front Sensor Faults

The TrueDepth array behind the notch drives Face ID. On six year old handsets we see failures from wear and from liquid ingress the owner has usually forgotten about. Refusing to enrol a new face, failing in dim light, or reporting itself unavailable all point there.

Face ID is paired to the logic board at manufacture, so a damaged TrueDepth module cannot be swapped in from another phone and made to function. A torn or disconnected flex cable can be repaired. We diagnose which before quoting.

Water Damage and Unexplained Faults

Anything else unclear carries a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you proceed. Phone keeps restarting and phone overheating are useful first reads.

Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned tracked, most customers seeing their phone in two to three working days.
