iPhone 14 Plus Repairs: The Battery Life King, Cheap to Maintain

The 14 Plus earned a reputation almost immediately for lasting longer on a charge than anything else Apple made short of a Pro Max. It was the model for people who genuinely did not want to think about charging, and years later that is still why owners hang onto them.

The good news on repair is that we charge £95 for a 14 Plus screen, exactly the same as the smaller iPhone 14, despite the Plus panel being considerably larger. Some shops apply a size premium. On this generation the parts cost does not warrant one, so we do not.

All work is done at our Essex repair centre with a twelve month warranty.

Screen Replacement (£95)

A bonded OLED panel under Ceramic Shield glass, replaced as a single assembly. Bigger panels flex more along their length during an impact, which is why Plus handsets tend to crack from an edge where smaller phones crack from a corner.

• Cracks running from an edge or corner impact
• Dead areas where touch stops registering
• Green, pink or white vertical lines after a drop
• Dark patches bleeding outwards over days
• Ghost touch inputs the phone generates itself

The Plus is a two-handed phone for most people, so the drops that break them usually happen mid-task from standing height rather than from a pocket. That tends to mean a harder landing. Even so, check whether the phone still rings and vibrates with a dark screen, because a dislodged display connector costs far less to put right and we test for it first. Battery Replacement (£69)

This is the repair that matters most on a 14 Plus, and it is the one owners feel most sharply. When you have spent three years never worrying about charge, a battery down to eighty percent capacity feels like the phone has broken rather than simply aged.

• Maximum capacity below 80 percent in Settings, Battery, Battery Health
• Endurance suddenly feeling ordinary instead of exceptional
• Abrupt shutdowns with charge apparently remaining
• Charge dropping in steps rather than smoothly
• The handset warm during undemanding use

A large battery hides software drain for a long time, so it is genuinely worth eliminating those causes before replacing hardware. Back Glass Replacement (£75)

The standard 14 and 14 Plus benefit from an internal redesign that made rear glass removal far less punishing than on the Pro models of the same year. It still needs doing properly with a laser separator, but the job is quicker and the price reflects that.

• Loose fragments scratch the camera lenses from behind
• The moisture seal fails the moment the glass breaks
• Wireless and MagSafe charging become intermittent
• Resale value falls by more than the repair costs

Charging Repair (£59)

This is a Lightning generation, and Lightning fails differently to USB-C. The internal contacts wear over years of use, so the cable still clicks in firmly while the connection itself becomes unreliable. Charging that works when you hold the cable at an angle and stops when you let go is the giveaway.

Camera Repair (£65)

Camera repairs split into cracked lens cover and failed module, at very different prices. The rear array protrudes from the body, so cover glass absorbs the impact when the phone lands face up, and on a heavier handset it takes rather more of it.

• Cracked lens cover with an undamaged module beneath
• Blurry images in every shooting mode after a drop
• Rattling or grinding as optical stabilisation fails
• Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
• Ultra-wide dead while the main lens works

Face ID and Front Sensor Faults

The 14 Plus keeps the notch, and the TrueDepth array behind it drives Face ID. Failure to enrol a new face, repeated failures in low light, or Face ID reporting itself unavailable all point at that assembly or its cable.

Worth knowing before anyone quotes you: Face ID is paired to the logic board at manufacture, so a damaged TrueDepth module cannot be swapped in from another phone and made to work. A torn or disconnected flex cable, on the other hand, is repairable. We work out which you have and tell you honestly if it is the kind that cannot be fixed.

Water Damage and Unexplained Faults

Liquid damage is assessed rather than quoted blind. Corrosion progresses unevenly and the honest answer only comes once the board is open and cleaned. See iPhone water damage repair, and phone data recovery if the photographs matter more than the handset.

Anything else unclear carries a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you proceed. Restarts, signal loss, distorted audio and unexplained drain all belong here. Phone keeps restarting and phone overheating are good first reads.

Turnaround, Cover and Booking

In-store repairs are usually completed within one to three hours on the same day and you can wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned by tracked delivery, most customers receiving the phone within two to three working days. Send-back postage is free and Klarna is available at checkout.

All eligible repairs carry a 12 month warranty on parts and labour. Faults relating to our work are corrected at no cost. New accidental damage, liquid damage and unrelated faults are excluded, and third party work afterwards voids the cover.
