iPhone 14 Pro Repairs: Still a Strong Phone, Now Cheap to Fix
The 14 Pro was the smaller of the two handsets that introduced the Dynamic Island, and it remains one of the best-value phones to own precisely because repair costs have fallen so far. A screen is £165 today. A battery is £69. Neither figure makes replacing the handset a sensible alternative.
It is also the last Pro generation before Apple moved to USB-C and titanium, which means it has its own specific failure patterns. We see enough of them to know what to look for. All work is carried out at our Essex repair centre with a twelve month warranty.
Screen Replacement (£165)
A bonded OLED panel beneath Ceramic Shield glass, replaced as one assembly. This generation runs an always-on ProMotion display, so the panel works harder than on non-Pro models of the same era.
- Cracks radiating from the impact point, usually a corner
- Dead zones where touch no longer registers
- Green or pink vertical lines after a drop
- Black patches bleeding outwards over several days
- Ghost touches happening with nobody holding the phone
Check this first: a phone that rings and vibrates but shows nothing has often only lost a display connector, which is far cheaper to fix than a panel. We test for it before quoting. Where a screen is failing with no impact history, read phone screen flickering.
We transfer the original display data so True Tone survives the swap. Detail on our iPhone screen repair page.
Battery Replacement (£69)
This is the repair almost every 14 Pro needs by now, and at £69 it is the cheapest way to make an ageing phone feel new. The always-on display draws steadily around the clock, so these handsets accumulate charge cycles faster than models without one.
- Maximum capacity below 80 percent in Settings, Battery, Battery Health
- Sudden shutdowns with charge still on the meter, worse in cold weather
- Charge dropping in jumps rather than smoothly
- Warmth during light use
- Needing a charger by early afternoon
If the drain appeared suddenly, switching the always-on display off for a day is a quick way to work out whether the setting or the battery is responsible. Our guide on why a phone battery drains so fast covers the rest, and iPhone battery replacement lists pricing across the range.
Back Glass Replacement (£75)
Bonded rear glass, removed with a laser separator rather than heat and prying tools. The stainless steel frame used on this generation conducts heat differently to the titanium that replaced it, which is one more reason the job needs proper equipment.
- Loose fragments scratch the camera lenses from behind
- The moisture seal fails as soon as the glass cracks
- MagSafe and wireless charging turn intermittent
- Trade-in value drops by more than the repair costs
See iPhone back glass repair for the method, and the cracked back glass guide for why home kits usually make things worse.
Charging Repair (£59)
The 14 Pro uses Lightning, and Lightning ports fail in a way USB-C does not. The contacts inside wear down over years of use, so the cable still clicks in and holds mechanically while the electrical connection becomes unreliable. The classic symptom is charging that works when you press or wiggle the cable and stops the moment you let go.
Before assuming that, though, compacted lint is the most common cause of a phone that will not charge, and narrow Lightning sockets pack it in especially tightly. We clean and test before quoting anything. Try a different cable and mains plug first, then read why a phone will not charge. Our iPhone charging port repair page explains replacement.
Camera Repair
Camera work on the 14 Pro splits into two jobs at very different costs: replacing a cracked outer lens cover, or replacing the module underneath. Because the rear array stands well proud of the body, cover glass takes the impact when the phone lands face up, and that is much the cheaper outcome.
- Cracked lens cover with the module beneath undamaged
- Blurry images across every shooting mode after a drop
- Rattling or grinding as optical stabilisation fails
- Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
- Telephoto or ultra-wide dead while the main lens works
We quote camera work individually on this model after checking which of the two you need, because the difference between a cover and a module is substantial and we would rather price it accurately than guess. Where nothing was dropped, phone camera not working covers the software checks.
Dynamic Island and Face ID Faults
The sensor cluster behind the Dynamic Island houses the TrueDepth array that Face ID relies on, and a hard drop or liquid ingress can damage it. Symptoms are recognisable: Face ID refusing to enrol a new face, failing repeatedly in low light, or reporting that it is unavailable.
An honest word on this. Face ID is paired to the logic board at manufacture, so a damaged TrueDepth module cannot be swapped for a working one from another handset and made to function. Where the fault is a torn or disconnected flex cable instead, it is repairable. We establish which you have before quoting, and we will tell you plainly if it is the kind that cannot be fixed rather than charging you to find out.
Water Damage and Unexplained Faults
Liquid damage is assessed rather than quoted. Corrosion spreads at its own pace and the real answer only emerges once the board is open and cleaned. Our iPhone water damage repair page explains the approach, and phone data recovery is available when the photographs matter more than the handset.
Anything else unclear carries a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you proceed. Restarts, signal loss, distorted audio and unexplained drain all sit here. Phone keeps restarting and phone overheating are sensible first reads.
Turnaround, Warranty and Booking
In-store repairs are usually completed within one to three hours on the same day and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned by tracked delivery, most customers seeing their phone in two to three working days. Send-back postage is free and Klarna is available at checkout.
Every eligible repair includes a 12 month warranty on parts and labour. Faults relating to our work are put right at no cost. New accidental damage, liquid damage and unrelated faults are excluded, and third party work afterwards voids it.
Book online through our Essex repair centre page, call 07939 990557, or contact us.
We also repair the iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 14, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro, with the full range on our iPhone repairs page.
