Galaxy S10 Repairs from £49

The S10 is a phone people hang onto. It was the last Galaxy flagship with a headphone socket, it introduced the ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, and a surprising number are still in daily use. Screen £135, and back glass, camera, battery and charging all £49.

All work is carried out at our Essex repair centre with a twelve month warranty on parts and labour.

The Fingerprint Reader Problem You Can Fix Yourself

Before booking anything, check this, because it accounts for a great many of the S10s brought to us for sensor faults.

The S10 uses an ultrasonic fingerprint reader that scans through the glass using sound rather than light. That makes it far more sensitive than an optical reader to whatever sits between your finger and the display.

  • Most standard tempered glass protectors stop it working reliably
  • Cheap or thick protectors can stop it working altogether
  • An air bubble under a protector causes intermittent failures
  • It needs protectors specifically sold as ultrasonic compatible
  • Wet or very dry fingers affect it more than an optical reader would

If your reader has become unreliable, peel the protector off and test before you pay anyone anything. That is a free fix and it works more often than you would expect.

Galaxy S10 Battery Replacement (£49)

On a phone of this age this is nearly always the repair that matters. Original S10 cells are years past their service life, and the symptoms are usually mistaken for the phone simply having got old.

  • Capacity noticeably below where it started, under Settings then Battery and device care
  • Lasting a few hours on ordinary use
  • Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed, particularly in cold weather
  • Charge dropping in large steps rather than smoothly
  • The handset warm during light use

At £49 this is the best money you can spend on an S10 by a wide margin. Eliminate software first with our guide on why a phone battery drains so fast, and see Samsung battery replacement for pricing. If it runs hot, read phone overheating.

Galaxy S10 Screen Replacement (£135)

A curved AMOLED panel bonded beneath toughened glass, replaced as a complete assembly. Because the display curves over the sides, a side impact lands on active screen rather than the frame, which is why S10 panels crack from the edge so readily.

  • Cracks running along or from a curved edge
  • Dead zones where touch no longer registers
  • Vertical green, pink or white lines down the panel
  • Black or discoloured patches spreading over days
  • The fingerprint reader failing after a screen impact

That last one is specific to this generation. The ultrasonic sensor sits within the display assembly, so a cracked screen often takes fingerprint recognition with it even where the rest of the panel still works. If your reader stopped at the same moment the screen cracked, that is the explanation. The vertical green line is a separate, well known Galaxy AMOLED failure that appears with no impact at all, covered in phone screen flickering and on our Samsung screen repair page.

Galaxy S10 Back Glass Replacement (£49)

Bonded rear glass removed with a laser separator rather than heat and prying tools. The wireless charging coil sits directly beneath and will not survive an improvised attempt.

  • Loose fragments scratch the camera lenses from behind
  • The moisture seal fails as soon as the glass cracks
  • Wireless charging becomes unreliable
  • Sharp edges are a nuisance on a phone in daily use

Our cracked back glass guide explains why home kits make things worse.

Galaxy S10 Charging Repair (£49)

On a phone this old expect a USB-C socket packed with years of compacted lint, and it is very often the entire problem rather than a failed port. Clearing it is not a chargeable repair here.

Genuine failure means charging at one angle only, cutting out when the phone is moved, or a connector that feels loose. Try another cable and mains plug, then read why a phone will not charge. Our Samsung charging repair page covers the replacement.

Galaxy S10 Camera Repair (£49)

A horizontal rear array with a punch-hole front camera. Both are repairable and quoted at the same rate.

  • Cracked lens cover with the modules beneath undamaged
  • Blurry images across every shooting mode after a drop
  • Rattling or grinding as optical stabilisation fails
  • Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
  • The front camera failing while the rear array works

Where nothing was dropped, phone camera not working covers the software checks.

Water Damage and Whether It Is Worth Repairing

The S10 has a water resistance rating, but on a phone this old the seals are long past their best. Ratings also cover fresh water rather than sea water, which matters locally.

Liquid damage is assessed rather than quoted, and on a handset of this age we will tell you honestly if the repair does not add up rather than taking your money to establish it. When that is the case, phone data recovery is often the service that genuinely helps, because what people want back is what is stored on it. See phone water damage repair for our approach. Anything else unclear carries a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you proceed, and phone keeps restarting is a good first read.

Turnaround, Warranty and Booking

In-store repairs are usually completed within one to three hours on the same day and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned tracked, most customers seeing their phone in two to three working days. Send-back postage is free and Klarna is available at checkout.

Every eligible repair includes a 12 month warranty on parts and labour whatever the age of the handset. Faults relating to our work are put right at no cost. New accidental damage, liquid damage and unrelated faults are excluded.

Book online through our Essex repair centre page, call 07939 990557, or contact us.

We also repair the Galaxy S10 Plus, Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S9, with the full range on our Samsung repairs page.

Galaxy S10 Repairs: Check This First

My S10 fingerprint reader is unreliable. Is the phone faulty?

Peel your screen protector off and test before assuming anything. The S10 uses an ultrasonic sensor that reads through the glass using sound, so it is far more sensitive to what sits on top of it than an optical reader. Most standard tempered glass protectors stop it working reliably. This is a free fix and it works more often than people expect.

Does the Galaxy S10 have a headphone socket?

Yes, and it was the last Galaxy flagship to include one, which is a large part of why people held onto them. It is repairable too. Crackly sockets on a phone this age are very often just full of pocket lint and need cleaning rather than replacing. Try a different pair of headphones first to rule out the cable.

Why does a cracked S10 screen kill the fingerprint sensor?

Because the ultrasonic sensor sits inside the display assembly rather than separately. A cracked panel therefore frequently takes fingerprint recognition with it even where touch still works normally. If both stopped at the same moment that is the explanation, and one screen replacement fixes both at once.

Is a £49 battery worth it on a Galaxy S10?

Comfortably, and it is usually the only repair these need. Original S10 cells are years past their service life, and the improvement in responsiveness is often more noticeable than the improvement in endurance, because the system throttles performance on a degraded battery to prevent shutdowns.

Is the S10 screen curved?

Yes, and it is why these crack from the edge so readily. The glass wraps around the sides, so a side impact lands directly on active display with no frame to absorb it. A case with a raised lip makes a genuine difference on curved Galaxies of this era, considerably more than on the flat models that followed.

Should I still trust the S10 water resistance?

No. Ratings describe a phone factory-fresh and undamaged, tested in fresh water in a laboratory, and on a handset this old the seals are long past their best. A drop or cracked back panel compromises it further. Liquid damage is also never covered by manufacturer warranty, so it comes to us regardless.
