Galaxy S21 Repairs from £55

The standard S21 is one of the most sensible older Galaxies to keep running. A screen is £135, a battery £55, and charging work £55. For a phone that still handles everything most people need, those numbers make repair the obvious call.

All work is carried out at our own bench in Essex with a twelve month warranty on parts and labour.

Galaxy S21 Battery Replacement (£55)

This goes first because on an S21 it is nearly always the answer. Compact flagships have less internal volume than their Plus and Ultra siblings, so the standard S21 has always worked its battery harder, and by now most have enough cycles behind them to show it clearly.

  • Capacity noticeably below where it started, under Settings then Battery and device care
  • Dead by mid-afternoon on ordinary use
  • Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed, particularly in cold weather
  • Charge dropping in large steps rather than smoothly
  • The handset warm during light use

If your S21 has become a phone you charge twice a day, £55 will very likely resolve that entirely. Eliminate software first, because replacing a healthy cell achieves nothing. Our guide on why a phone battery drains so fast covers the causes in order, and Samsung battery replacement lists pricing across the range. If it runs hot too, read phone overheating.

Galaxy S21 Screen Replacement (£135)

A flat AMOLED panel bonded beneath toughened glass, replaced as a complete assembly. The S21 and S21 Plus both moved to flat displays while only the Ultra kept curved edges, and the flat design is meaningfully more robust because a side impact meets the frame rather than active display.

  • Cracks radiating from a corner or edge impact
  • Dead zones where touch no longer registers
  • Vertical green, pink or white lines down the panel
  • Black or discoloured patches spreading over days
  • Ghost touches occurring with nobody holding the phone

The vertical green line is worth understanding on this era of Galaxy. It appears with no drop, no water and no obvious cause, very often within days of a software update, and owners quite reasonably assume a patch will fix it. It will not. It is a hardware failure in the panel, it widens over the following weeks, and only a new display resolves it. Read phone screen flickering if that matches yours.

The fingerprint reader sits under the display, so a replacement panel must be seated correctly and the sensor tested afterwards. A poorly fitted screen leaves you unlocking the phone three or four times before it takes. We test it before it goes back. More on our Samsung screen repair page.

Galaxy S21 Rear Panel Replacement (£59)

One genuine advantage the standard S21 has over its more expensive siblings: Samsung fitted it with a composite rear panel rather than glass. It was criticised at launch as a cost saving, but in practice it survives drops that would shatter a glass back, and a lot of S21s in daily use still have unmarked rears years on.

When it does need replacing, the panel is bonded to the frame and removed with a laser separator. The wireless charging coil sits directly beneath and will not survive an improvised attempt with heat and prying tools.

  • The moisture seal fails as soon as the panel is damaged
  • Wireless charging becomes unreliable
  • Debris can reach the camera lenses from behind
  • Damage tends to be scuffs and cracks rather than shattering

Our cracked back glass guide covers the process on bonded rear panels generally.

Galaxy S21 Charging Repair (£55)

On a phone of this age expect a USB-C socket well packed with compacted lint, and it is frequently the entire problem rather than a failed port. Clearing it is not a chargeable repair here, and we will tell you if that is all it needed.

Genuine failure means charging that works only at one angle, cuts out when the phone is moved, a connector that feels loose, or charging that works while data transfer refuses. Try a different cable and mains plug first, then read why a phone will not charge. Our Samsung charging repair page covers the replacement.

Galaxy S21 Camera Repair (£59)

The S21 introduced the wraparound camera housing that flows into the frame rather than sitting as a separate raised block. Impacts tend to hit the housing edge and individual lens covers rather than lifting the whole array, which usually keeps the repair cheaper than it looks.

  • Cracked lens cover on one lens with the others undamaged
  • Blurry images across every shooting mode after a drop
  • Rattling or grinding as optical stabilisation fails
  • Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
  • Ultra-wide dead while the main lens works normally

We always establish which you need rather than defaulting to the expensive option. Where nothing was dropped, phone camera not working covers the software checks.

Water Damage and Unclear Faults

The S21 carries a water resistance rating, but that describes the phone factory-fresh and undamaged, and on a handset this age the seals have degraded regardless. Ratings also cover fresh water rather than sea water, which is worth knowing anywhere near the coast.

Liquid damage is assessed rather than quoted. See phone water damage repair for our approach, and phone data recovery if what you need is the contents rather than the handset. Anything else unclear carries a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you go ahead, and phone keeps restarting is a good first read.

Turnaround, Warranty and Booking

In-store repairs are usually completed within one to three hours on the same day and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned by tracked delivery, most customers seeing their phone in two to three working days. Send-back postage is free and Klarna is available at checkout.

Every eligible repair includes a 12 month warranty on parts and labour whatever the age of the handset. Faults relating to our work are put right at no cost. New accidental damage, liquid damage and unrelated faults are excluded.

Book online through our Essex repair centre page, call 07939 990557, or contact us.

We also repair the Galaxy S21 Plus, Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy S20, with the full range on our Samsung repairs page.

Galaxy S21 Repairs: Questions Worth Asking

Does the standard Galaxy S21 have a glass back?

No, and it is genuinely good news. Samsung fitted the standard S21 with a composite rear panel rather than glass, which was criticised at launch as a cost saving. In practice it survives drops that would shatter a glass back, and a lot of S21 handsets still have unmarked rears years on. It cracks or scuffs rather than spidering.

Is a composite back cheaper to replace than glass?

The repair is £59 and the panel is still bonded to the frame, so it is removed with a laser separator like any other. The wireless charging coil sits directly beneath and will not survive an improvised attempt with heat and prying tools. What the composite gives you is fewer replacements needed in the first place.

Is the flat S21 screen less likely to break than the S21 Ultra?

Yes. The S21 and S21 Plus both moved to flat displays while the Ultra kept curved edges. On a curved panel a side impact meets active display with nothing to absorb it; on a flat one the metal frame takes the hit. We see proportionally fewer standard S21 screens than S21 Ultra screens as a result.

A line appeared on my S21 screen with no damage. What is it?

A known hardware failure on Galaxy AMOLED panels of this era. It shows up with no drop and no water, frequently just after a software update, which is why owners wait for a patch. It is not a bug, it widens over the following weeks, and only a new display resolves it.

Is a Galaxy S21 still worth repairing?

On one fault, comfortably. A £55 battery on a sound S21 transforms daily use for very little money and the phone still handles everything most people need. Where it becomes marginal is a handset wanting a screen and a battery together, which starts to approach the cost of a good used replacement.

What is the single best thing I can do to keep an S21 going?

Replace the battery. On a phone of this age that is where nearly all the perceived slowness and unreliability comes from, because the system throttles performance on a degraded cell to prevent shutdowns. At £55 it is the cheapest repair on the phone and the one that makes the biggest practical difference.
