iPhone 7 Repairs: Every Job £39

Pricing on the iPhone 7 is refreshingly simple. Screen, battery, camera, charging port and rear housing work are all £39, with diagnostics at £15. There is no need to work out which repair costs what, because they all cost the same.

We should also be straightforward about the phone itself. The 7 is nine years old, no longer receives current iOS releases, and some apps have dropped support for it. It remains perfectly capable as a second phone, a work phone kept away from a nice one, or a first phone for a child. If that is the job yours is doing, £39 to keep it running is money well spent. If it needs several repairs at once, we will tell you honestly rather than quoting for all of them.

All work is carried out at our Essex repair centre with a twelve month warranty.

The Home Button Works Differently on a 7

This is the thing about the 7 generation that almost nobody explains, and it saves people money to understand it.

The home button on an iPhone 7 does not physically move. It is a pressure-sensitive pad that fakes a click using the Taptic Engine underneath, and the whole assembly is cryptographically paired to the logic board. Two consequences follow.

Touch ID cannot be restored once the assembly is damaged, which is true of every Touch ID iPhone. But specific to this generation, a damaged home button on a 7 often stops working as a button entirely rather than just losing the fingerprint reader. When that happens iOS provides an on-screen home button through AssistiveTouch in Accessibility settings. It works well, it costs nothing, and we will show you how to turn it on rather than selling you a repair that cannot give you back what you actually lost.

During a screen replacement the assembly must be transferred from your old panel to the new one. Done carelessly it is destroyed for good. We transfer it as standard on every 7 we work on.

Screen Replacement (£39)

An LCD panel replaced as a complete assembly, and the joint cheapest screen repair on our list.

  • Cracks spreading from the impact point
  • Dead areas where touch no longer registers
  • White or bright patches rather than black bleeding
  • Backlight failure, leaving a faint image visible under a torch
  • Ghost touches registering without any input

The backlight symptom rescues a lot of phones people had written off. If a 7 seems completely dead but you can just make out the home screen with a torch shone at it, the handset is fine and only the backlight has failed. For faults with no drop involved, read phone screen flickering. Our iPhone screen repair page covers the process.

Battery Replacement (£39)

If your iPhone 7 is still on its original battery, this is the repair it needs and probably the only one. Nine years of charge cycles leaves almost nothing behind.

  • Maximum capacity far below 80 percent in Settings, Battery, Battery Health
  • Lasting an hour or two on ordinary use
  • Shutting down without warning, particularly in cold weather
  • Charge dropping in enormous steps, sometimes 40 percent at once
  • The phone feeling almost unusably slow

That last symptom is the one worth understanding, because it sends perfectly good phones to landfill. iOS deliberately throttles the processor when battery health is very poor, to stop the handset shutting down under load. On a nine year old 7 that throttling is severe. People conclude the phone is finished when what it actually has is a £39 problem. Rule out software first with our guide on why a phone battery drains so fast, and see iPhone battery replacement for pricing.

Rear Housing Repair (£39)

A point of clarification, because it causes confusion when people ring round. The iPhone 7 has no back glass. It uses an aluminium unibody rear housing, which is exactly why it cannot charge wirelessly. Any quote you are given for back glass on a 7 is a quote for something that does not exist on the phone.

What we do repair is damage to the aluminium housing itself:

  • Dents and deep scuffs from drops onto hard surfaces
  • Bending or warping, usually from pressure rather than impact
  • A cracked camera lens cover set into the housing
  • Damage around the port and speaker cut-outs

Warping matters more than its appearance suggests, because no internal component seats properly against a bent frame. If the phone has been sat on, have it checked.

Charging Repair (£39)

Lightning port, nine years of insertions. The internal contacts wear away, so the cable still clicks in and feels secure while the connection has become unreliable. Charging that works when you press or hold the cable at an angle and stops when you let go is the classic sign.

First, though, expect a socket thoroughly packed with lint, which on a phone this age is very often the whole problem. Cleaning it is not a chargeable repair here. Try a different cable and mains plug, then read why a phone will not charge. Our iPhone charging port repair page explains replacement.

Camera Repair (£39)

A single rear lens keeps this simple. There is no telephoto or ultra-wide to complicate diagnosis.

  • Cracked lens cover over an otherwise healthy module
  • Blurry or soft images after a drop
  • Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
  • Focus hunting continuously without settling
  • Rattling from a failed stabilisation assembly

Where nothing was dropped, phone camera not working covers the software checks.

Water Damage and Unexplained Faults

The 7 was the first iPhone with a water resistance rating, but nine year old seals are nothing like the seals it left the factory with. Treat it as an unsealed phone. Liquid damage is assessed rather than quoted blind, and on a handset of this value we will be direct about whether repair is economic. Our iPhone water damage repair page explains the approach, and phone data recovery is available when the photographs matter more than the handset.

Anything else unclear carries a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you proceed. Phone keeps restarting and phone overheating are useful first reads.

Turnaround, Warranty and Booking

In-store repairs are usually completed within one to three hours on the same day and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned tracked, most customers seeing their phone in two to three working days. Send-back postage is free and Klarna is available at checkout.

All eligible repairs carry a 12 month warranty on parts and labour, and a nine year old iPhone 7 gets exactly the same cover as a current model. New accidental damage, liquid damage and unrelated faults are excluded.

Book online through our Essex repair centre page, call 07939 990557, or contact us.

We also repair the iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 8 and iPhone 6S Plus, with the full range on our iPhone repairs page.

iPhone 7 Repair - FAQs & Answes

Why is my iPhone 7 screen showing lines or ghost touches?

If your screen has flickering lines, ghost touches, or dead spots, it might be due to a damaged LCD or digitizer. A screen replacement will restore full touch sensitivity and display clarity. We use high-quality parts to ensure a smooth experience.

My iPhone 7 battery drops from 50% to 10% instantly. Can you fix this?

Yes! A failing battery can cause sudden percentage drops, overheating, and shutdowns. A battery replacement will improve battery life, charging speed, and phone performance. We use premium batteries with a 12-month warranty.

My iPhone 7 only charges when I hold the cable at an angle. What’s wrong?

This usually means your charging port is damaged or clogged with dust. We offer charging port cleaning and replacements, ensuring your phone charges properly again.

Can you fix my iPhone 7 home button if it’s not working?

Yes! If your home button doesn’t click, feels stuck, or is completely unresponsive, we can repair or replace it. For newer iOS versions, a software workaround can restore functionality if a physical replacement isn't possible.

Why is my iPhone 7 stuck in a boot loop (Apple logo keeps flashing)?

This issue can be caused by software error, water damage, or failing hardware components. We provide diagnostic services to find the root cause and restore your phone.

My iPhone 7 has no sound during calls. How can this be fixed?

If the other person can’t hear you or your speaker sounds muffled, the issue could be a blocked microphone, faulty earpiece, or software glitch. We’ll test and fix the exact problem, whether it’s a cleaning, repair, or part replacement.

Can you repair my iPhone 7 if it has water damage?

Yes! Even minor water exposure can cause long-term damage. We offer water damage repair, internal cleaning, and component replacements to revive your phone.

My iPhone 7 camera is blurry or not focusing. Can you fix it?

A blurry camera could mean a damaged lens, internal dust, or a faulty camera module. We provide camera repairs and replacements to bring back sharp photo and video quality.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace my iPhone 7?

For common issues like a cracked screen or dead battery, repairing is much cheaper than upgrading. If your phone has multiple failing parts, we can advise whether repair is cost-effective.

Can I mail in my iPhone 7 for repair if I don’t live near us?

Yes! We offer UK-wide mail-in repair services. Simply send your device to us, and we’ll repair it and return it with free tracked delivery.

How long does an iPhone 7 repair take?

Most repairs, such as screen or battery replacements, take under 60 minutes. More complex repairs may take longer, but we aim for same-day service.

Do you offer a warranty on iPhone 7 repairs?

Yes! All our repairs come with a 12-month warranty, covering any defects related to the repair. If an issue arises, we’ll fix it for free.
