iPhone 8 Repairs from £45

The iPhone 8 has had an unusually long second life. It became the phone people bought for children, kept as a backup, or handed to a relative who wanted something simple with a home button. A lot of them are still in use, and they come to us regularly for one or two straightforward repairs rather than anything dramatic.

At £48 for a screen and £45 for battery, back glass, camera or charging work, keeping one going is inexpensive. It is also the sensible thing to do with a phone that only needs to make calls, send messages and take the occasional photograph.

All work is carried out at our Essex repair centre with a twelve month warranty.

Home Button and Touch ID: The One Thing to Get Right

Touch ID on the iPhone 8 is cryptographically paired to the logic board at the factory. If the home button assembly is damaged, a replacement will function as a home button but fingerprint recognition cannot be restored. There is no workaround, and anyone offering to fit a working Touch ID from another handset is not being honest with you.

This matters most during screen replacement, because the home button assembly must be carefully transferred from your original screen to the new one. It is not supplied with the replacement panel. A careless screen repair destroys Touch ID permanently, and we see 8s arrive that way from other shops more often than we would like. We transfer it as standard, and if your button is already damaged in a way that risks it, we will tell you before we begin.

Screen Replacement (£48)

The 8 uses an LCD panel, which is why the replacement is one of the cheapest we offer on any iPhone. LCD fails differently to OLED and the symptoms are worth recognising.

  • Cracks spreading from the impact point
  • Dead areas where touch no longer registers
  • White or bright patches rather than black bleeding
  • Backlight failure, leaving a faint image visible under a torch
  • Ghost touches registering without any input

That backlight symptom saves a lot of phones from being thrown away. If an 8 seems completely dead but you can just make out the home screen with a torch shone at it, the handset is fine and only the backlight has gone. For faults with no drop involved, read phone screen flickering. Our iPhone screen repair page covers the process.

Battery Replacement (£45)

If you are using an iPhone 8 on its original battery, this is almost certainly the repair you need. Eight years of charge cycles leaves very little capacity behind, and it is the single most common complaint we hear about this model.

  • Maximum capacity well below 80 percent in Settings, Battery, Battery Health
  • Lasting only a couple of hours on ordinary use
  • Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed, particularly in the cold
  • Charge dropping in very large steps
  • The phone feeling slow as well as short on charge

On phones this age the speed improvement is often the bigger surprise, because iOS throttles processor performance heavily when battery health is poor. Parents who bought an 8 for a child and concluded it was too slow to be useful are usually looking at a £45 problem rather than a hardware limitation. Rule out software first with our guide on why a phone battery drains so fast, and see iPhone battery replacement for pricing.

Back Glass Replacement (£45)

The iPhone 8 shares its awkward reputation with the 8 Plus. The rear glass is bonded to the frame with exceptionally strong adhesive and there is no practical way to separate it cleanly without a laser. Many shops refuse this repair outright on an 8, which is why you may have struggled to get a straight quote elsewhere.

  • Loose fragments scratch the camera lens from behind
  • The moisture seal fails as soon as the glass cracks
  • Wireless charging becomes unreliable or stops entirely
  • Sharp edges matter more on a phone handled by children

See iPhone back glass repair for how we handle it, and the cracked back glass guide for why DIY on this model in particular usually ends with a scrapped handset.

Charging Repair (£45)

Lightning port with eight years behind it. The contacts wear, so the cable still clicks in and feels secure while the connection has become unreliable. Charging that works when you press or angle the cable and stops when you let go is the classic sign.

Before that, expect a socket packed with years of compacted lint. On an 8 it is very often the entire problem and costs nothing like £45 to sort. We clean and test first. Try a different cable and mains plug, then read why a phone will not charge. Our iPhone charging port repair page explains replacement.

Camera Repair (£45)

A single rear lens keeps camera repairs on the iPhone 8 simple and cheap. There is no telephoto or ultra-wide to complicate the diagnosis.

  • Cracked lens cover over an otherwise healthy module
  • Blurry or soft images after a drop
  • Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
  • Focus hunting continuously without settling
  • Rattling from a failed stabilisation assembly

Where nothing was dropped the cause is often software, and phone camera not working covers those checks.

Water Damage and Unexplained Faults

Liquid damage is assessed rather than quoted blind. On a handset worth what an iPhone 8 is worth today, we will be direct with you about whether the repair makes financial sense rather than taking your money to find out it does not. Our iPhone water damage repair page explains the approach, and phone data recovery is available when the photographs matter more than the phone.

Anything else unclear carries a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you proceed. Phone keeps restarting and phone overheating are useful first reads.

Turnaround, Warranty and Booking

In-store repairs are usually completed within one to three hours on the same day and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned tracked, most customers seeing their phone in two to three working days. Send-back postage is free and Klarna is available at checkout.

Every eligible repair includes a 12 month warranty on parts and labour whatever the age of the handset. Faults relating to our work are put right at no cost. New accidental damage, liquid damage and unrelated faults are excluded.

Book online through our Essex repair centre page, call 07939 990557, or contact us.

We also repair the iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone SE 2nd Gen and iPhone X, with the full range on our iPhone repairs page.

FAQs for iPhone 8 Repair

My iPhone 8 screen has cracks but still works. Should I replace it?

Yes! Even if your screen is still responsive, cracks can spread over time, leading to touch issues, discoloration, or dead spots. Additionally, broken glass exposes your phone to dust and moisture, which can damage internal components. A professional screen replacement restores your phone’s look and function, preventing further damage.

How can I tell if my iPhone 8 battery needs replacement?

If your battery drains quickly, jumps percentages, shuts down unexpectedly, or struggles to hold a charge, it’s time for a replacement. A worn-out battery can slow down your phone, making it frustrating to use. Our high-quality replacement batteries restore full-day battery life and come with a 12-month warranty.

Why is my iPhone 8 not charging properly?

A faulty charging port is a common reason for slow or inconsistent charging. Dust, lint, or damage to the charging pins can prevent a stable connection. We provide charging port repairs and replacements, ensuring your phone charges like new again.

My iPhone 8 got wet and now won’t turn on. Can it be repaired?

Yes! Water damage can cause corrosion inside your phone, leading to issues with the screen, battery, or logic board. Even if your phone turns on, hidden moisture can cause long-term damage. We offer professional water damage cleaning and repair to prevent permanent failure.

My iPhone 8 speaker is crackling. Can it be fixed?

Yes! A crackling or muffled speaker may be due to dust buildup, water exposure, or a damaged speaker component. We can either clean the speaker or replace it if necessary, restoring clear sound quality.

My iPhone 8 is stuck on the Apple logo. What does that mean?

A phone stuck on the Apple logo is often caused by a software glitch, failed update, or hardware issue. We can diagnose the exact problem and repair it, whether it requires a simple software fix or hardware repair.

Do you repair the iPhone 8 back glass?

Yes! The iPhone 8 has a glass back that can easily crack if dropped. We use advanced laser technology to remove and replace the back glass, making your phone look brand new.

Is it worth repairing my iPhone 8, or should I upgrade?

If your iPhone 8 is working well aside from a cracked screen or weak battery, repairing it is a cost-effective option. A new battery or screen replacement can extend the phone’s life by years. However, if multiple parts are failing, we can advise on whether an upgrade makes more sense.

Can I mail in my iPhone 8 for repair?

Yes! We offer mail-in repairs across the UK. Simply send us your phone, and we’ll fix it and return it via tracked delivery. This is a great option if you’re unable to visit our store in person.

How long does an iPhone 8 repair take?

Most repairs, like screen and battery replacements, take 30-60 minutes. More complex repairs, like back glass or motherboard issues, may take longer, but we aim for same-day service whenever possible.

Do you provide a warranty on iPhone 8 repairs?

Yes! All our repairs come with a 12-month warranty, covering any defects related to the repair. If you have any post-repair issues, we’ll fix it free of charge.
