Galaxy A13 Repairs from £49
The A13 was a huge seller and it is one of the most common phones through our door. Screen £65, and rear panel, camera, battery and charging all £49, with diagnostics at £15.
It is a phone bought for practicality rather than pleasure, and that is how we treat it. Most A13s that reach us need one thing fixing, not four, and the sensible approach is to sort that one thing and get the handset back to work.
Galaxy A13 Battery Replacement (£49)
This is the repair the A13 needs more than any other, and by some distance the best value thing you can do to one.
- Capacity noticeably below where it started, under Settings then Battery and device care
- Not lasting the day where it once managed comfortably
- Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed, particularly in cold weather
- Charge dropping in large steps rather than smoothly
- The phone feeling slow as well as short on charge
Before spending anything, check how full the phone is. Budget handsets slow dramatically when storage runs low, and a great many A13s brought to us as tired are simply crammed with photographs and app data. Free a few gigabytes, restart properly, and see whether it improves. Our guide on why a phone battery drains so fast covers the rest, and Samsung battery replacement lists pricing.
Galaxy A13 Screen Replacement (£65)
Replaced as a complete assembly. The A13 was sold in more than one configuration, so we confirm which panel yours takes before ordering anything, and it is worth checking Settings, then About phone, before getting quotes elsewhere.
- Cracks radiating from a corner or edge impact
- Dead zones where touch no longer registers
- White blotches or backlight failure on LCD versions
- Coloured lines or black bleeding on AMOLED versions
- Ghost touches occurring with nobody holding the phone
The backlight failure is the one worth knowing. If your A13 looks completely dead but you can just make out the home screen when you shine a torch at it, the phone is working perfectly and only the backlight has gone. Everything on it is safe. People throw handsets away over exactly this. For faults with no impact behind them, read phone screen flickering, and see our Samsung screen repair page.
The Fingerprint Reader Is in the Power Button
The A13 puts its fingerprint sensor in the side-mounted power button rather than under the display, which is genuinely better news at repair time.
- A screen replacement has no effect on it at all
- No screen protector can ever interfere with it
- It reads wet or cold fingers better than an in-display sensor
- If it fails it is a separate, cheaper job than anything involving the panel
Re-register the fingerprint and check that a thick case is not stopping your thumb reaching the button squarely before booking anything. Those two things account for most of the complaints we get on this model.
Galaxy A13 Charging Repair (£49)
Most charging problems on budget phones are compacted lint in the USB-C socket rather than a failed port, and clearing it is not a chargeable repair here.
Genuine failure means charging that works only at one angle, cuts out when the phone is moved, or a connector that feels loose. Change the cable and mains plug first. Worn cheap cables are the commonest cause of all on phones like this, and people regularly pay for ports that were never broken. Then read why a phone will not charge. Our Samsung charging repair page covers the replacement.
Galaxy A13 Rear Panel Replacement (£49)
A composite rear panel rather than glass, which cracks or scuffs rather than shattering and survives falls that would destroy a glass-backed handset.
- Cracks and deep scuffs rather than spidering across the whole back
- Debris able to reach the camera lenses from behind
- Sharp edges where a panel has split
- Panels lifting at a corner after a hard drop
Our cracked back glass guide covers bonded rear panels generally.
Galaxy A13 Camera Repair (£49)
The A13 carries several rear lenses in separate rings set into the panel, which sounds impressive on a spec sheet and matters less in practice. What it does mean for repair is useful though: damage stays confined to one ring rather than affecting the whole array.
- Cracked lens cover on one lens with the others undamaged
- Blurry images across every shooting mode after a drop
- Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
- Focus hunting continuously without settling
- The camera app slow to open, which here is usually memory rather than hardware
Where nothing was dropped, phone camera not working covers the software checks.
Water Damage and Whether to Repair
The A13 has no water resistance rating, so treat it as completely unsealed. Liquid damage is assessed rather than quoted, and at this price the honest answer is often that repair does not add up.
We will say so plainly rather than taking your money to establish it. Phone data recovery is frequently the service that actually helps in that situation. See phone water damage repair for how we assess these. Anything else unclear carries a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you proceed, and phone keeps restarting is a good first read.
Turnaround, Warranty and Booking
In-store repairs are usually completed within one to three hours on the same day and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned tracked, most customers seeing their phone in two to three working days. Send-back postage is free and Klarna is available at checkout.
Every eligible repair includes a 12 month warranty on parts and labour. New accidental damage, liquid damage and unrelated faults are excluded.
Book online through our Essex repair centre page, call 07939 990557, or contact us.
We also repair the Galaxy A14, Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A15, with the full range on our Samsung repairs page.
Is the Galaxy A13 the same as the A13 5G?
No, and this catches people out constantly. The A13 and the A13 5G are separate phones with different displays, different rear panels and different internal layouts, despite names that differ by two characters. A quote given for one is simply wrong for the other, and a part ordered on the strength of the wrong name will not fit. Settings, then About phone, gives you the exact model number and takes seconds. It is worth checking before you ring anywhere, ours included, because it is the difference between a repair that goes ahead on the day and one that stalls waiting on the right display assembly.
Galaxy A13 Repairs: Check Storage First
Why is my A13 so slow?
Almost always storage rather than a fault. Budget handsets crawl when space runs low, and a great many A13s brought to us as tired are simply crammed with photographs and app data. Free a few gigabytes, restart properly and see whether it improves before assuming the battery or anything else has failed.
Which screen does my A13 take?
The A13 was sold in more than one configuration, so we confirm which panel yours needs before ordering anything. Check Settings, then About phone, before ringing round elsewhere, because being quoted for the wrong variant is the most common problem people bring us on budget Galaxies.
My A13 looks dead but I can see the screen with a torch. What now?
The backlight has failed rather than the phone. Everything on it is safe and the handset is working perfectly, it simply is not lit. That is a screen replacement, not a dead phone, and it is well worth checking before giving up on it. People throw away working handsets over exactly this symptom.
Does the A13 have a side fingerprint reader?
Yes, in the power button rather than under the display, which is better news at repair time. A screen replacement cannot affect it and no screen protector can interfere with it. If it stops responding, re-register the fingerprint and check a thick case is not blocking your thumb from reaching the button squarely.
Does having four rear cameras make repairs more expensive?
No, and it usually helps. The A13 carries several lenses in separate rings set into the panel, which sounds impressive on a spec sheet and matters less in practice. What it does mean is that damage stays confined to one ring rather than affecting the whole array, so repairs are often cheaper than they look.
Is an A13 worth repairing?
On a £49 battery or a charging fault, yes. A £65 screen on an otherwise sound phone is reasonable too. Where it stops adding up is liquid damage or several faults at once, and we will tell you plainly rather than quoting for everything and letting you find out afterwards.
