Galaxy A10 Repairs from £49

The A10 was Samsung’s entry point when it launched, and it is a genuinely basic phone. Screen £59, and rear panel, camera, battery and charging all £49, with diagnostics at £15.

It is old now, no longer receiving updates, and worth very little. That does not make it worthless. It still makes calls, sends messages, takes photographs and plays music, and a lot of A10s are doing exactly that as second phones or first phones for children. What it does mean is that the repair decision needs an honest answer rather than a sales pitch.

What Is Worth Fixing on an A10

Putting this near the top because on a phone of this value it is the only question that matters.

  • A £49 battery on an otherwise sound A10 is worth doing and transforms it
  • A charging repair is worth doing, and it is very often just lint anyway
  • A £59 screen is close to what the phone is worth, so think about it properly
  • Two repairs together almost never adds up on this model
  • Liquid damage on an A10 is not economic to repair

If yours needs a battery, come to us. If it needs a screen and a battery and a port, we will tell you plainly that the money is better spent elsewhere, and we will help you get the data off it instead. We would rather do that than take £150 for a phone worth less than that.

Galaxy A10 Battery Replacement (£49)

This is the repair that keeps an A10 going and usually the only one worth doing. Original cells are years past their useful capacity.

  • Capacity noticeably below where it started, under Settings then Battery and device care
  • Lasting only a few hours on ordinary use
  • Shutting down without warning, particularly in cold weather
  • Charge collapsing in large steps
  • The phone feeling very slow as well as short on charge

On an A10 that slowness is usually memory and storage rather than the battery. These shipped with very little of either, and a phone that is nearly full will crawl regardless of how healthy the cell is. Delete what you can and restart properly before assuming hardware. Our guide on why a phone battery drains so fast covers the rest, and Samsung battery replacement lists pricing.

There Is No Fingerprint Sensor on an A10

Worth stating plainly because people ring us about it. The A10 has no fingerprint reader at all, anywhere on the phone. Not under the display, not in the power button, not on the back. Samsung left it out entirely at this price point and the phone relies on face unlock and a PIN instead.

So if your A10 has stopped unlocking by face, nothing has broken. Face unlock on this model uses the ordinary front camera rather than any dedicated sensor, and it struggles in poor light, with glasses, or when the lens is smudged. Clean the front camera and try again in better light before assuming a fault. If the front camera itself has failed, that is a camera repair rather than a security one.

Galaxy A10 Screen Replacement (£59)

An LCD panel bonded beneath toughened glass, replaced as a complete assembly. At £59 on a phone of this value, this is the repair to think hardest about.

  • Cracks radiating from a corner or edge impact
  • Dead zones where touch no longer registers
  • White or bright blotches rather than black bleeding
  • Backlight failure, leaving a faint image visible under a torch
  • Ghost touches occurring with nobody holding the phone

Before writing the phone off, check the backlight. If the A10 seems completely dead but you can make out the home screen when you shine a torch at it, the handset is working and only the backlight has failed. Everything on it is intact. That matters more here than on an expensive phone, because it is the difference between a working device and a bin. For faults with no impact, read phone screen flickering, and see our Samsung screen repair page.

Galaxy A10 Charging Repair (£49)

Most A10s brought to us as charging faults do not need a new port. They need years of compacted lint clearing out of the socket, and that is not a chargeable repair here.

The A10 uses the older micro USB connector, which wears faster than USB-C because the plug only fits one way round and gets forced in the dark. Change the cable first, because worn cheap cables cause more of these faults than broken ports do. Then read why a phone will not charge. Our Samsung charging repair page covers the replacement.

Galaxy A10 Rear Panel Replacement (£49)

A composite rear panel rather than glass, which cracks or scuffs rather than shattering. On a phone like this that is exactly the right choice, and plenty of A10s are still on original panels after years of hard use.

  • Cracks and deep scuffs rather than spidering across the whole back
  • Debris able to reach the camera lens from behind
  • Sharp edges where a panel has split
  • Panels lifting at a corner after a hard drop

Our cracked back glass guide covers bonded rear panels generally.

Galaxy A10 Camera Repair (£49)

A single rear lens, which keeps this simple. Clean it before booking, because a smeared lens accounts for a good share of the blurry photograph complaints we get.

  • Cracked lens cover with the module beneath undamaged
  • Blurry images, which is frequently just a dirty lens
  • Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
  • Focus hunting continuously without settling
  • The front camera failing, which also breaks face unlock

Where nothing was dropped, phone camera not working covers the software checks.

Water Damage and Data Recovery

The A10 has no water resistance whatever. Liquid damage on one is not economic to repair and we will say so straight away rather than charging you a diagnostic to reach the same conclusion.

What is genuinely worth doing is phone data recovery. A phone this age is very often carrying years of photographs that exist nowhere else, and recovering those is worth far more than the handset. See phone water damage repair for how we assess these. Anything else unclear carries a £15 diagnostic, deducted from the repair if you proceed, and phone keeps restarting is a good first read.

Turnaround, Warranty and Booking

In-store repairs are usually completed within one to three hours on the same day and you are welcome to wait. Mail-in repairs are typically finished within eight to twelve hours of arriving and returned tracked, most customers seeing their phone in two to three working days. Send-back postage is free.

Every eligible repair includes a 12 month warranty on parts and labour. A cheap old phone gets exactly the same twelve months as a folding flagship, which we think is the point. New accidental damage, liquid damage and unrelated faults are excluded.

Book online through our Essex repair centre page, call 07939 990557, or contact us.

We also repair the Galaxy A12, Galaxy A02 and Galaxy A13, with the full range on our Samsung repairs page.

Galaxy A10 Repairs: There Is No Fingerprint Sensor

Where is the fingerprint sensor on a Galaxy A10?

There isn't one. The A10 has no fingerprint reader at all, anywhere on the phone. Samsung left it out entirely at this price point and the handset relies on face unlock and a PIN instead. People ring us about this regularly, so it is worth stating plainly rather than letting anyone book a repair for something that never existed.

My A10 face unlock has stopped working. Is it broken?

Probably not. Face unlock on the A10 uses the ordinary front camera rather than any dedicated sensor, so it struggles in poor light, with glasses, or when the lens is smudged. Clean the front camera and try again in better light before assuming a fault. If the front camera itself has failed, that is a camera repair rather than a security one.

Why does my A10 charge so unreliably?

The A10 uses the older micro USB connector, which wears faster than USB-C because the plug only fits one way round and gets forced in the dark. Combine that with years of compacted lint in the socket and you have the two commonest causes. Clearing lint is not a chargeable repair here, and changing the cable is free.

Is a £59 screen worth it on an A10?

It is close to what the phone is worth, so it needs thinking about properly rather than agreeing to automatically. A £49 battery is the easier call and usually all these need. If yours needs a screen and a battery together, we will tell you plainly that the money is better spent elsewhere.

My A10 is dead but I can see the screen with a torch. What does that mean?

The backlight has failed rather than the handset. The phone is working perfectly and everything on it is intact, it simply is not lit. On a phone this cheap that single check is genuinely the difference between a working device and the bin, and it costs nothing to try.

Is an A10 worth putting money into?

On a battery, if you want to keep using it, yes. It works fine as a spare, a music player or a first phone for a child. Beyond one repair it stops adding up, and liquid damage certainly does. We would rather tell you that than take £150 for a phone worth less than that.
