The A17 is one of the newest budget Samsungs and a genuinely capable phone for the money. Screen £89, battery £65, rear panel £59, camera £59, charging £55, diagnostics £15.

That screen price looks high next to older budget models and there is a straightforward reason. Panels for phones still in production cost more than those for models Samsung stopped making years ago, because aftermarket supply has not built up yet. It settles over time, the same way car parts do.

A Word on Warranty Before You Book Anything

The A17 is new enough that a good number are still inside their manufacturer warranty, and that genuinely changes what you should do first.

• Manufacturer warranty covers faults, never accidental damage
• A cracked screen is never covered, so bring that straight to us
• A battery failing unusually early may well be covered by Samsung
• A charging port that stopped working with no damage might be covered
• Third party repair can affect whatever manufacturer warranty remains

We would rather point you at Samsung for something they will fix for nothing than take the booking. If your A17 has a genuine fault rather than damage and it is under a year old, check that first. Galaxy A17 Screen Replacement (£89)

An AMOLED panel bonded beneath toughened glass, replaced as a complete assembly. Samsung fitting AMOLED at this end of the range is unusual, and it is the strongest argument for repairing an A17 rather than replacing it with something cheaper from another brand that will have a worse screen.

• Cracks radiating from a corner or edge impact
• Dead zones where touch no longer registers
• Vertical green, pink or white lines down the panel
• Black or discoloured patches spreading over days
• Ghost touches occurring with nobody holding the phone

The vertical line appears on Galaxy AMOLED panels with no drop and no water, sometimes shortly after a software update, which convinces people it is a bug awaiting a patch. Galaxy A17 Battery Replacement (£65)

At £65 this is the priciest battery in our budget range, again reflecting current production parts rather than any difference in the work involved.

• Capacity noticeably below where it started, under Settings then Battery and device care
• Not lasting the day where it once managed comfortably
• Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed
• Charge dropping in steps rather than smoothly
• The handset warm during light use

Because the A17 is recent, a battery genuinely failing this early is unusual and worth investigating rather than assuming. Galaxy A17 Charging Repair (£55)

Most charging complaints turn out to be compacted lint in the USB-C socket stopping the cable seating rather than a failed port. Clearing it is not a chargeable repair here.

Genuine failure means charging that works only at one angle, cuts out when the phone is moved, or a connector that feels loose. Galaxy A17 Rear Panel Replacement (£59)

A composite rear panel rather than glass, bonded to the frame and removed with a laser separator. It cracks or scuffs rather than shattering into fragments, which is the right choice for a phone at this price.

• Cracks and deep scuffs rather than spidering across the whole back
• Debris able to reach the camera lenses from behind
• Sharp edges where a panel has split
• Panels lifting at a corner after a hard drop

Galaxy A17 Camera Repair (£59)

Separate lens rings set into the rear panel rather than a raised block, so there is less to catch when the phone lands face up and damage stays confined to one ring.

• Cracked lens cover on one lens with the others undamaged
• Blurry images across every shooting mode after a drop
• Camera app opening black or crashing on launch
• Focus hunting continuously without settling
• Ultra-wide dead while the main lens works normally

Water Damage and Unclear Faults

Where the A17 carries a water resistance rating it describes the phone factory-fresh and undamaged, tested in fresh water in a lab. A drop can break the seal invisibly, and sea water is far more damaging than fresh, which matters anywhere near the coast.

Liquid damage is assessed rather than quoted, and it is never covered by manufacturer warranty, so this is one to bring to us regardless of how new the phone is.
