The A16 is Samsung’s current budget phone and a better buy than its price suggests. Screen £65, and rear panel, camera, battery and charging all £49, with diagnostics at £15.

It also carries an unusually long software support commitment for a phone at this money, and that matters more to whether you should repair it than anything about the hardware. A cheap phone that will keep receiving security updates for years is worth putting £49 into. One that has stopped getting them is a different proposition entirely.

Check Your Warranty First

The A16 is recent enough that many are still inside their manufacturer warranty, so this is worth two minutes before you book anything with us.

At £49 this is the repair that keeps an A16 useful and comfortably the best value thing you can do to one.

• Not lasting the day where it once managed comfortably
• Sudden shutdowns with charge still displayed, worse in cold weather
• Charge dropping in steps rather than smoothly
• The phone feeling slow as well as short on charge

Budget phones carry less memory than flagships, so background apps are unloaded and reloaded constantly, and that costs both battery life and speed. Galaxy A16 Screen Replacement (£65)

An AMOLED panel bonded beneath toughened glass, replaced as a complete assembly. Samsung fitting AMOLED at this price is genuinely unusual and it is the main reason an A16 is worth repairing rather than replacing with a cheaper phone from another brand.

• Cracks radiating from a corner or edge impact
• Dead zones where touch no longer registers
• Vertical green, pink or white lines down the panel
• Black or discoloured patches spreading over days
• Ghost touches occurring with nobody holding the phone

Galaxy A16 Charging Repair (£49)

Most charging complaints on budget handsets are compacted lint in the USB-C socket stopping the cable seating, not a failed port. Clearing it is not a chargeable repair here, and at this price we would far rather tell you that than take the booking.

Genuine failure means charging that works only at one angle, cuts out when the phone is moved, or a connector that feels loose. A composite rear panel rather than glass, which cracks or scuffs rather than shattering into fragments and survives drops that would destroy a glass-backed phone.

Water Damage and Unclear Faults

Treat the A16 as unsealed. Liquid damage is assessed rather than quoted and is never covered by manufacturer warranty, so it comes to us regardless of the phone’s age.

How long will the Galaxy A16 keep getting updates?

This is the question that should drive your repair decision, and it is the reason the A16 is not an ordinary budget phone. Samsung committed to six years of Android and security updates on this model, which is a level of support that used to be reserved for flagships costing four times as much. A handset you can safely use until the early 2030s is worth putting money into in a way that a two-year budget phone never was. If your A16 needs a battery or a screen, you are maintaining a phone with years of supported life ahead of it, not propping up something already at the end of its road. Weigh the repair against that, not against the sticker price.
